The essential part of any shop whether it is an online store or an outlet is its range of goods. So, if you want
to be able to offer your customers a wide variety of products, you have a great deal of work.
In order to add a product to your ViArt Shop at first you have to decide which category it will belong to
and navigate to it. After that click the 'Add Product' link at the bottom of the 'Products in category' block.
Note: You will be able to change the category and even add the product to the others later. For more information
see section 5.4.7.
The basic characteristics of any product of your online store are set at the corresponding 'Edit product' page
in the administration section. To get there you have to go to Administration > Shopping Cart > Products & Categories >
your category > Add product. Note that you can edit them any moment you like from the same page (Administration >
Shopping Cart > Products & Categories > your category > your product (or the 'Edit' link next to it)). For more
information about general product settings see section 5.4.2.
Note: You can take a quick look on how the product will look like by clicking the 'View Product On Live' link in the upper right corner of the page.
After providing all necessary information and click the 'Add product' button, you will be forwarded to the
'Set Options' page where you will be prompted to specify default option values. You will be able to edit them
later at Administration > Shopping Cart > Products & Categories > (product) > Options (see section 5.4.4).
You can also leave the fields blank in case you do not need the default options for that specific product. For
more information about default options see section 5.3.2.2.
Basically, you have added a new product to your online store. In order to specify more details please proceed
to the corresponding sections:
A few more things to keep in mind when managings products:
- In case you have several similar products, you can simply duplicate them. For more information see section 5.4.11.
- In case you need to edit similiar features of different products, you can select the products on the main 'Products and Categories' page and click the 'Edit Selected' link. Tick off the fields you want to edit and click the 'Next' button.
