Has anyone got a simple solution to make a working car parts webshop?
The problem is that every car part should be attached to many different car models, car model version and car model version engine.
An example:

Daewoo -> Kalos -> 1.4
Daewoo -> Kalos -> Hatchback 1.2
Daewoo -> Kalos -> Hatchback 1.4
Honda -> Accord I ->Hatchback 1.6
Honda -> Accord II ->Hatchback 1.6
Honda -> Accord III ->Hatchback 1.6

Car part "Oil filter" is the same for all above car models, and should be added as one product and linked to all above cars, but not to the rest.

I cannot set car models as manufacturer nor wholesalers since theese cannot include subcategories.

If I make both car parts categories and car models as categories, it will be a total of 113 000 bottom categories to fill in the products in, and a total of more than 160 000 categories. It will be impossible to handle this in a good way..

Please help with your ideas?!

Can you look at it the other way?

Manufacturer = Quinton Hazel
Sub Category = Oil Filters
Product = Filter xxxx

and then assign this product to multiple car engines?

Im not sure I understand your solution, but I am really thankful that you try to help!
How should I assign the product to the car engines? What type of information should the car name/model/engine be? Categories? Or product options? Or..?
What will the top category be if Oil filters is the sub category? Do you mean that Filters should be top category?
Thanks!

There will be less car parts than car models so Im suggesting you create the car part categories and products and then allocate them to specific vehicles at the product level.
So "Filters > Oil > Honda > Accord" and in the description
" Fits Honda Accord I - Hatchback 1.6 , Honda -Accord II ->Hatchback 1.6, Honda -> Accord III ->Hatchback 1.6"

You might want to start by creating a spreadsheet of parts and then you can use this to upload to the store SQL database.
