Viart Users:

I'm looking to see which of you would feel that they would enjoy the usage of a customer address book. This would allow users of your site(s) to store an address book of different shipping addresses.

1.) Special Occasions - Your customers could name the addresses (mom, sister, work, home, etc).

Only thing I would like to add in to this function to make it work really nicely, would be the ability to add, edit, view, on this in the user profile on the admin side.

Hi Dan,

I asked Viart for a quote on this recently.

Here is there reply.

[Viart]

Yes.

The possibility for multiple stored delivery address attached to client accounts.

e.g a client could decide if to store each delivery address used for future use after entereing the details in the checkout (or they could auto save with option to remove). Then when checking out an option list of addresses are displayed to the user and one can be selected for the current order

Such change will cost $600.

[Viart End]

This does not include any additinal admin access to the addresses

This was too expensive for me on my but I would love to see this feature carried through as standard so keep me posted if you get a few other interested parties on board.

Holy wow!!! 600? Sounds like a little bit of a rip. I cannot believe that they'd charge 600.00 for that feature. Most carts have this feature already. I'm almost to the point where so many additional features are necessary, that Its almost worth getting a different system

Yes, Dan, but is there an acceptable 'different system' that already has enough of the features that we get now to make that a viable option?

To be honest... I have not a clue. I doubt it. It's just the little things that aren't thought out with this system that's a touchy subject.

Viart's system is a very feature full system, however many of the features are only half done. An admin should be able to access EVERYTHING on a user without logging into their account. It's a little frustrating when a customer calls and states something doesnt work and you have to get their password from them in order to see what they're talking about....

Well, I do have to agree with you!

Does anyone else have use of this feature? I'm looking to have this done, and not sure if it's worth me doing it myself, or having ViArt do a custom project..

Address Book should have the following features:

1.) Include address book on the user_home page
2.) User would be able to select this option on the shipping information block via a dropdown box.
3.) User would be able to save an address they type in on checkout for future use.
4.) Admin will have access to the following:
a.) Access rights setup for both user/admin access

5.) DEPENDS ON IMPORTANCY:

Not sure if this would help anyone, but it would be nice if we could actually select a shipping location per product. Sometimes my customers will order 3 different things, and have items go to 2 different addresses. I guess I can do without this feature, but the other address features would be nice.

My position has changed now - we are reluctant to deliver to a different address than the invoice as this is where we get the most charge-back issues.

We always ask a customer to explain the use of a different address and would not want to imply from the presentation on screen that it is normal.

It is a nice idea if not for us. Best wishes, Chris

I'm surprised you have such conflict with Fraud issues. I rarely have any customer dispute a transaction. They may call/email and dispute charge, but rarely an order. And with all the information that we collect/save and can produce, it is very rare that we get chargeback.

For instance, we show the customer's IP address on the checkout page, charegeback warnings, etc.

We also warn
- perhaps our specialist market has a higher than average rogue element?
Mostly the problem is claiming the card is stolen or misused - and second addresses are usually used on such occurrences.

Note: Much of the problem is with orders from Italy and the Netherlands. For these countries we don't even accept card payment for first orders over a certain level.
