1.4.2. Upgrading

After you've been using ViArt Shop for a while you should think about updates.
Actually we announce our new version releases but you can verify your current version yourself. To do this you have to go to Administration > System > System upgrade.

Before proceeding there should be some explanations about the difference between ViArt Shop updating and upgrading its database. Updating ViArt Shop itself means going to our site and downloading the latest version available. In such a way you will extend your online store with new features and options and possibly have some bugs fixed. But in order to make the updated version of ViArt Shop work properly you have to upgrade its database. Upgrading the database means changing its admin_upgrade.php file. It will be done automatically, so all you have to do is to click the button and wait for results.

There are four situations you are likely to meet.

The best one is if after going to Administration > System > System upgrade your screen looks like the picture below:

This means that you have the latest version of ViArt Shop and there is nothing to worry about. Just keep on doing what you were doing.

Another variant is

This means that you have the latest version of ViArt Shop but your database is out of date. To correct this just click the 'Upgrade database' button. As a result your screen should look like

Now everything should work perfectly and you can go on with your e-commerce business.

A little bit more work should be done if what you see at your monitor is

This means that we have already released a new version of ViArt Shop and you can download t right now. Actually it is not obligatory that you keep your ViArt Shop up to date. You can reserve the version you have if you are totally satisfied with it. But we would recommend updating as there are usually a lot of new features which can be helpful.

So, if you've decided to update your store click the 'Download version' button. This will bring you to http://www.codetosell.com/Free_Evaluation where you will be prompted to download the new version. Hope you are familiar with the whole installation process; otherwise see section 2.2.

Note: After updating your ViArt Shop please be sure to upgrade its database (Administration > System > System upgrade).

It should be admitted that this situation is rather rare and uncommon. As the picture suggests you have missed at least two new releases. May be you've been very busy all these days. But anyway there is still nothing to worry about. Just download the latest version (click the ' Download version' button), install it and after that upgrade your database (Administration > System > System upgrade).
