In the event that you do not only use only ViArt Shop to manage your products, you may require an export/import facility.
In order to export/import the product category tree that you have set up for your online store, you need to first go to Administration > Products > Products & Categories and click the corresponding link at the bottom of the 'Available Categories' block.
Export
If you wish to export the product category tree which you have set up within your ViArt Shop, you need to choose the 'Export' link. Your screen should look as follows:
Here you can specify the fields you want to export (just tick the corresponding check box), you can also create a custom field (click the 'Add Custom Field' link). The system supports
three file formats: delimited by comma, delimited by tab and delimited by semicolon.
Custom Fields
There may be situations when you may need some extra fields, this maybe to contain some new
information or the same data as the predefined fields, but with different format.
If you click the 'Add Custom Field' link you will see the following:
- Field Title Specifies the name of the field
- Field Value Specifies the value of the field
Note: You can enter some text (in such a case all categories will have the same value for this field) or you can use special tags (in order to see the full list of available tags click the 'click here to see all
available tags you can use in your custom field' link).
Click 'Add' in order to add the custom field.
Click 'Cancel' if you to leave without saving.
After you have added a custom field it will be displayed with the predefined ones, you can edit its settings by clicking the 'Edit' link.
Having specified all necessary settings click the 'Export' button. When prompted to open the file or save it, select to save.
Import
If you already have a product category tree and want to import it to your ViArt Shop, you need to choose the 'Import link. Your screen should look as follows:
Here you need to provide the full path to the CSV file containing the data, and finally, specify its format. The system supports three file formats: delimited by comma, delimited by tab and delimited by semicolon.
Click the 'Upload' button. Your screen should look as follows:
Here you need to match the columns in your CSV file with the database ones.
Note: In the event that you have some extra fields (for example, a custom field) they will be displayed along with the predefined ones, however, you cannot import them unless you ignore some of the predefined fields.
If necessary, tick the check box if the first row of your CSV file contains data, and specify whether you
want the system to show all the data before proceed or whether you prefer to import them immediately.
Click the 'Continue' button.
The system will compare the existing category tree with the data in the CSV file and generate something like the table you can see below.
Every category is assigned one of the three statuses possible:
- New This means that this category doesn't exist in the system database, and you can easily add it.
- ErrorThis means that some data doesn't match the database columns, and you need to correct it to proceed.
- ExistsThis means that the same category already exists in the system database.
Tick the check boxes of the categories you want to import and click the 'Import' button.
Note that you cannot import categories with the 'Error' status.
The system will import the data and show you the results.
