3.2.2. Customer profile settings
Prev Index Next

Customer profile contains some information about the customer. You can define what kind of it you need by setting up specific fields.

Actually, customer profile settings are specified when adding a new customer type. However, you can edit the existing ones if you go to Administration > Customers > Profile Settings/Types, locate the type you need and click the corresponding 'Profile Settings' link.

On the whole, the section can be divided into several parts. Let's examine each of them:

General settings

Here you can enter some kind of introduction for new customers as well as for registered ones. Then, by default after submitting data (when registering or editing their profiles) customers are redirected to user_home.php; you can change this by providing appropriate URLs in the corresponding fields. For example, you can forward registered customers to index.php after updating profiles.

The 'Image Settings' allows determining whether a customer can add an avatar as well as its size. However, note that at present the option is not implemented yet.

Customer details

You can indicate in what kind of customer information (both personal and delivery) you are interested in by ticking of corresponding check boxes. You can also make the fields required. However, keep in mind that some fields (for example, 'Company Selection'( from predefined companies list), 'State' or 'Country') will be shown to customers in the form of a list box. So, you have to arrange the list at the 'Static tables' section (for more info see section 4.3).

E-mail notification

With ViArt CMS you can receive e-mail notifications when a new customer has registered as well send some kind of greetings to the customers themselves. To set this up you have to tick off the corresponding check boxes and fill out necessary e-mail fields.

Note: You can get a detailed description of all e-mail fields if you click the 'click here to learn more about all email fields' link.

After that you have to select a message format (HTML or Plain Text) and create a message body template. Also keep in mind using special ViArt CMS tags. These tags are placed in braces and when an e-mail message is sent are replaced by tags values. For example, the {registration_date} tag will be replaced by the date of the registration. You can look through the full list of such tags by clicking the 'click here to learn more about email settings and see all available message tags' link. Note that you can add these tags into your email body and email subject.

SMS notification

ViArt CMS allows you staying up to date wherever you are and whatever time it is now. Should a certain event occur, the system will send an SMS notification to you as well as to your customer. However, you have to set up a special SMS gateway beforehand. (For more information see section 2.4).

The main fields you will have to fill out in order to enable SMS notifications to you and your customers are as following:

  • Send SMS Notification to Administrator/User enables/disables the notifications.
  • SMS Recipient/Originator should contain the corresponding number in international format.
  • SMS Message contains the message itself; keep in mind using special tags. (You can look through the full list of such tags by clicking the 'click here to see all available message tags' link.)

Note: Actually, the SMS notification settings will depend on the SMS service you will be using. Anyway, feel free to contact our support team if there are any difficulties.

In order to save the changes you made click the 'Update' button. If you want to leave without saving click 'Cancel'.
