It often happens that customers forget their password. In such a case they can apply to a site administrator providing their logins and some personal information. But it would be much easier to use a special password restoring option.
That is to say, there is a special 'Forgot your password' link on the 'Registration' page of your ViArt Shop. When a customer clicks it, he or she will be prompted to provide the e-mail address used when registering. After that the login details will be sent to that e-mail.
Now, in order to customize those e-mails, you have to go to Administration > Customers > Forgotten Passwords.
In ViArt CMS there are two formats for storing passwords, namely non-encrypted or encrypted with MD5 algorithm. You can set up the option in the 'Global Settings' section (see section 2.1). However, keep in mind that should you choose the 'Use MD5 for encryption' option there won't be any possibility to restore passwords but only to set new ones and therefore you won't be able to change the setting to 'None'. Please do choose carefully.
So, the 'Forgotten Passwords' allowing setting up two e-mail message templates. This can be done in three steps:
- Step 1. Provide default e-mail addresses.

- Step 2. Select an en-mail message format.
ViArt CMS can send email messages in both HTML and Plain text formats. Setting the 'Message Type' radio button to 'HTML' allows sending emails in HTML format, thus HTML tags will be used for formatting message as HTML. The 'Plain text' option discards any HTML formatting - the message will be sent as it is.
- Step 3. Work out an e-mail body.
Keep in mind using special ViArt Shop tags. These tags are placed in braces and when an e-mail message is sent are replaced by tags values. For example, the {login} tag will be replaced by the customer's login. You can look through the full list of such tags by clicking the 'click here to learn more about email settings and see all available message tags' link. Note that you can add these tags into your email body and email subject.
Note: There is an ability to limit the time when an encrypted password can be changed.
Click the 'Update' button to save the changes you made or 'Cancel' to leave without saving.
