I upgraded a multi-site installation and I upgraded from 3.6 to 4 and followed ViArt's procedures (and suggested safeguards like dir and db backups) and all went fine. Then have been manually applying patches as they became available.

Yes you need to copy new version files from there http://www.viart.com/Free_Evaluation_Download over your old files and then click on "Upgrade" button in your admin.

All SAFE procedures are described there: http://www.viart.com/upgrade_viart_shop.html

Please remember that version 4 has significant changes in structure that's why if you have a custom design or any customizations in the files they will not work on latest version.

i tried to use the database dump tool from system db management but after i try and submit all fields
it start to process but after some mb, it give this error msg

Database error: Invalid SQL: SELECT event_id, order_id, admin_id, status_id, order_items, event_date, event_name, event_description, event_type FROM `va_orders_events`
MySQL Error: MySQL client ran out of memory

probably my database is too big, about 600 mb already ( but zipped only 46mb ), on ftp i see a .sql file only of 55mb ,

for database backup i can use mysql phpmyadmin.
at new year will try the upgrade procedure and hope don't see any errors !
