5.4.10. Releases

As time goes by, some products, especially downloadable ones, are likely to get some changes. In such a case a product release is issued. With ViArt Shop you can supply your customers with releases of all products they've bought at your online store.

In order to add a release please go to Administration > Shopping Cart > Products & Categories > your category > your product > Releases. Click the 'Add New Release' link at the bottom of the block. Your screen should look like the following:

The fields you have to fill out are as following:

  • Show on Site defines whether the release will be shown on your site.
  • Show on Main Page defines whether the release will be shown on the main page.
  • Note: There are two places where product releases can be shown. The first one is on the main page of your store (make sure to add the 'Product releases' block (see section 3.4.4)). The other is the user home page (User Home Page > My Orders > View Details > All Releases).

  • Release Date specifies the date the release is issued; by default current date is used.
  • Release Type should be selected from the drop-down list; you can set up its values through the 'Static Tables' section (see details).
  • Title contains the name of the release.
  • Version contains the version number; will be shown in brackets next to the title.
  • Download Type specifies the customers who can download the release: all, only registered ones or only those who ordered the product.
  • Path to Downloadable File indicates the full path to the release file.
  • Description may contain some explanations or notes.
Click the 'Add new' button to add the image.
Click 'Cancel' if you want to leave without saving.

Release Changes

After you add a release, it will be shown in the main table at Administration > Shopping Cart > Products & Categories > your category > your product > Releases. You can edit its settings by clicking the 'Edit' link as well as add/edit the changes it contains.

Click the 'Edit Changes' link. Your screen should look like:

Here you have to provide the following data:

  • Show enables/disable the change.
  • Type defines the change type; you can set up the values through the 'Static Tables' section (see details).
  • Date specifies the date the change is made.
  • Change Description may contain some explanations or notes.

You can delete a change by ticking off the corresponding check box. Click the 'Add' button to add more fields.

In order to save the changes you made click the 'Update' button.
In order to delete all changes click the 'Delete All' button.
If you want to leave without saving click 'Cancel'.
