After uploading in binary new files for 3.4.2 still showing a update needed instead of a update data base ????
I uploaded all of the files the first time and it then showed me a database update as well a new version update so I redownloaded the file then uploaded them all and again it is showing a new version is ready and not the data base update ????

I know what you're talking about. I had the same issue. It has to do with the /includes/common.php file. I updated all of my files, and then found that when I went to the system upgrade page, it showed a new version available for download button, and clicking on it just took me back to viart. I was given a new file, and it allowed me to just simply click and it worked. No database changes were done, as it showed zero queries were ran and zero were successful/failed.
Hope this helps...

I am not sure what you mean by " I was given a new file, and it allowed me to just simply click and it worked."
When I go to the Viart page all I get is a download of the new version ??
I had downloaded the changed only files at first and had uploaded them again in binary and I could access admin but all front page action stopped as in database error ??
So I uploaded the whole new file over writing my old dropped my data base tables then ran install.php and then restored my database and all was to where I am now being it does not recgoniaze the new version because I do not know ?????
Help trying to buy the script to remove all ads and want to make sure all is great...

I'm not sure what you mean on that last line.
Here's what you need to do the common.php
Your includes/common.php should contain the string like this:
define("VA_RELEASE","3.4.2");

what is going on here. I have same problem but changing the text in common.php to 3.4.2 and uploading back does not change anything.
I still get the message that it is version 3.4.1,.
Maybe it doesn't matter?
