1: I have had the is e-mail from a customer:
I have recently placed an order, and would like to find out how many loyalty points I have received (I am a registered customer). Unfortunately I cannot find a link on the website, which tells me how many points I have. Could you help?

2: How does a customer actually redeem the points balance outstanding against an order?

Hi Chris,

Here is what I have worked out:

1) If you look up the user under http://www.domain.com/admin/admin_users.php, you will see the points column. Clicking on it will bring up a breakdown of points awarded through orders, taken away, added manually etc. I believe this is the only way at the moment to see the users points - i.e customer has to contact merchant to confirm how many points they currently have.

Although, there is a way around this for the user, if they add item into basket, procede through checkout and log into their account, at the payment screen, they can see how many points they have in account to put towards order.

2) I havent tested this fully so I am not sure if user can part pay with points and rest with credit card / paypal etc. I have been in contact with support in the past as even though user has enough points to pay for the order in full, they still had to enter their card details for a toal of 0.00 hence why we have now created an "offline" payment option.

Hope this helps
Andrew

Oh! That's not so good.

I cannot imagine a bonus points system where the customer cannot see what they have accumulated; and it must be possible to buy part points / part cash as the points are rarely ever going to be the same as the purchase value.

I will submit this on a support ticket.

Hello,

Taken this demand into consideration we have updated version 3.3.2 with the possibility to view the amount of accumulated points on the user_home.php page.

With kind regards,
ViArt Support Team

That's a very good start, Anjula, thanks

Have you published the file for download - can't find reference to 3.3.2 files.

I am now just hoping (and anxious) to have a good user-friendly option at checkout Wink

Regards, Chris

Whilst we await the promise file,
I now have the answer to:

<< 2: How does a customer actually redeem the points balance outstanding against an order? >>

When the customer goes to checkout, if the number of points are enough to redeem any the products in the basket a check box is provided offering to use the points in redemption of that/those products to a total that is within the total pints value.

However it only tries to redeem a product [or products] in full and does not offer to use up all points in part payment - leaving a balance to carry forward.

Nevertheless it is very good.

I have tried to explain it for my customers - https://www.malikstores.co.uk/article.php?category_id=4&article_id=25

You have an error on your site. If you go to ur gifts page and hit add to cart with no amount, this is what shows up at the top of the page...

Just an FYI

Notice: Undefined variable: eol in /homepages/41/d207619956/htdocs/MALIKONLINE/store/includes/shopping_cart.php on line 370

Also, I have a question, I'm looking to start using this shopping cart program...do you have any suggestions? Also, I don't see the Points feature on the top of the checkout page and I have 3.3.2?

[ the error: I have put the error to Viart to look at - I see that it is because the buying price is 0.00 - insert a value and there is no problem of course. I expect that Viart will resolve this for me as usual Wink].

"do you have any suggestions?" - buy it, get stuck in. It's a steep learning curve and you can only get to grips with it hands on.

"I don't see the Points feature on the top of the checkout page" You only see this if you have previously ordered and have a points value accrued in your account. Place an order. Go back again and place a second order.

I did this for real...I'm trying to learn this program. I even set up a fake user...added 50 bonus points to the account, and tried to place an order...there's nothing...i have no idea what I've done wrong....

admin end shows 50 bonus points

user account doesn't show any on page AND doesn't show on shopping cart...I so wish I could figure this out! it's the one thing I really want to figure out! Everything else seems okay...ugh!!! Help?

I am still using 3.3.1 - I don't want to upgrade through the Christmas season.

I have uploaded the new user_home.php but the points balance do not show in user home. Is this because this file will not work with 3.3.1 - or do I have to check it somewhere to show?

Many thanks

Chris
