Hi Guys,

This might sound daft, but is there a way to run a bulk sale on products? For example, I run a clothing website, if we wanted to offer a sale on all footwear, do I have to go through and manually enter the sale price or can I bulk reduce the prices and still appear as a sale?

Thanks

Doesn't sound daft - I would really like to do a discount - by category - so that I could either say:

Each product reduced (in the category) by 10%
- or -
Buy more than £50 (from this category) and we take 10% off.

I guess it is not on I don't know

Okay, what I would do is run a SQL query to change all product types pricing set to a certain price... shouldn't be difficult.

Also, you have the option to export to excel, create a formula discount however you want, and then re-import. That process is really quick, but yes... if you're looking to do a quick change of all clothing to 10% off, then I would run the query

I think this would be preferable as opposed to changing the prices. As then you would display the usual price and then only when the coupon is applied at the checkout would the 10% discount be applied.

If you change the actual price you would have to change them all back again and you may find you are a few cents out unless you store all the original prices in a spreadsheet.

For that reason I suggest setting up a coupon

It would be great if the products type "coupons" allowed a whole category to be chosen in addition to being able to select individual or multiple products.

That said you could maybe select all the products which are footwear one by one if not too many.

When we do a coupon offer of this type we also set up an extra category and place all the sale items in that category

e.g Category name = Footwear Sale Items

This could be made a hidden category once the sale is over without the need to delete the category from each item afterwards.

We also add a block in the basket stating what the coupon code is in addition to obviously mentioning the code in our promotinal emails etc.

Or simple one give a percentage of everything using a coupon. Thats what we do mainly just for ease !
