I may have lost a few sales because some buyers do not like PayPal, but they don't know that there is no need to set up a PayPal account in order to pay by debit or credit cards.

What is the best way to overcome this problem ?

- more prominent notices using custom blocks and messages ?
- ask ViArt for new features on the view basket and checkout pages to inform customers?
- ask PayPal to improve their payment logos ?

Does anyone else have this problem ?

The best way is to use PayPal Pro - only if you are in the UK or USA. This gives a card checkout inside your site.

If you have to use PayPal Standard put a credit card image in the check out option?

I use PayPal pro also, $30/mo in the US. I like it!

But I used regular PayPal with somewhat good success for a long time.

The weird thing is that they made it fairly easy to find the credit card pathway the first time a user clicked into the PayPal realm. But then they placed a cookie that presented different checkout pathways on future PayPal purchases to make it look almost impossible to pay by credit card. I finally put very specific instructions, telling them they can always use a regular credit card on paypal... just look for the obscure link that says "not currently a paypal member" and follow it. Even if they are a paypal member, that is the pathway to pay by credit card.

I created a banner that says "ATTENTION CUSTOMERS...you do not have to set up a Paypal account to complete your purchase...blah blah"...then in that banner I show a screenshot of where they can click "Continue without creating account".

I placed this banner on the Cart overview page..or whatever you call it where they put their address details in. Its working.

If you need me to send you the banner, give me a shout.Smile

P.S. I can't stand how Paypal doesn't make it obvious enough that you can continue without signing up. I think its in poor taste and tricky and for that, I say boo!

Then you either need PayPal Pro or to change your payment processor, Emily.
