We have this:

Administration > Site Users > Users Types > Customer > Contact Form Settings

I have tried the manual ...
can anyone tell me if this produces a contact form on site - if so how do we display it (the URL?)

I can't answer your question. There are no many things in Viart that are not documented Sad

But, for a Contact Form, what I did was to Google for a "php contact form"
I then spent a night playing with them to work in Viart.

The one I ended up using can be found at http://www.ibdhost.com/contact/

I made sendeail.php a file on its own
For contact.php, I stuck that in a custom page and then put it into the navigation thingo

There were a few variables that wouldn't display so I just edited them our as they aren't important to me eg IP address, referrer agent etc.

Sorry I can't give detailed instructions. I'm working overtime as it is trying to "guess" a viart manual Wacko

Thank you jty, I have a non-Viart form.

But I want to stop all the non standard add-ons and hoped that this would replace my current form Smile

Chris,

This contact setting is for when a customer registers for your site. It determines the letter that they get when signing up. It's not used for anything else within ViArt from what I'm aware of.

Then, would it take much to extend this to be a standard contact form?

Hi Chris,

Maybe this is relevant... One reason I got ViArt is for the "help" center, which I use only as a contact form. I want to change some of the defaults which I understand are more flexible in Version 3.5. But meantime here is how I use Help as a contact form: www.VisionImprovementCenter.com/support.php

You can use all the help center settings to decide what email to reply from, signatures, inserted content, etc. It works great for me, now I never forget to reply to a contact, and I can can sort them by status, etc.

Thanks vic140 but I use Viart Standard and this does not have the help center.

Also this uses a database driven system to record and manage messages - useful for correspondence that may have several responses.

All I want is a form on site for customers to send me messages.

I tried to use Custom Pages->Support which generated a contact form. The problem was, when I received the e-mail from the contact form, the user name and e-mail fields were replaced by our e-mail instead. I don't know whether it's a bug or the set up wasn't right. But the contact form is there in the viart cart. BTW, I'm using standard too.

Like I said, I just want a simple e-mail form Smile

I'm quite stunned that there is no apparent contact us page or form to use if you don;t want the support entre tickets

Yes, its true. It does not have a Contact Us page.

I think they wanted us to create our own through Custom Pages.

I have installed a flash form from Coffee Cup and put it into a block.

It works very well so I no longer worry about this ... but it would have been good to have a Viart one.

I use the same flash form from Coffee Cup, very easy to implement & creates an effective simple form:

I am probably missing something here but why do you need a separate contact form plug in when you have the support 'contact form' ?Wacko

The helpdesk is available in the enterprise version, not in the standard version

You could use the free version of the helpdesk support form. I really like it because all queries are stored in the Viart Database and do not get lost in the shuffle of my everyday email.
