I would like to add rss to the news section of the site. There is no manual to help for articles etc. All I want to do is place a news feed on the news section of the website, but I have been at it for hours....
 
Is it not possible? Does the news section have to be based on internally authored articles? Any help (although step by step please) gratefully received.

If you are trying to get the ViArt software to be an RSS news reader, I tried to get this working once, and was not able to do it. What they had implemented at that time was to add the capabilities for ViArt to be an RSS feed provider instead of a way to display RSS feeds. The Support response was:
 
 
"Yes, the function of this is quite the opposite of what you want; we will look to add more functionality to this so that it can act as a feed reader in a future release for you."
 
That was from early May, 2006. I've not seen that this is done yet.

Please go to Administration > Articles, click on 'Edit category' link right to News category.
Locate section 'RSS Settings', check 'Activate RSS' and select where you want RSS icon to be shown (option 'Show RSS link'). Don't forget to add block Breadcrumb to the page so you can see RSS icon in it.

As for RSS reader, ViArt software doesn't have such possibility.
News are based on internally authored articles.

We are an online music workshop company. I would like to provide a RSS feed of my lastest products (events) so customers and affiliates can promote our events on their own sites. Is this possible through RSS?

This link will allow you to enter the RSS feed link and will generate code that you can enter into a Custom Block or Page.
 
It will show dynamic news!!
