I would like to increase the number of products listed on the product listing pages & search results... Ideally so there are 2 or 3 products across rather than 1 accross at present...
Is there an easy way to do this that I am missing - or is it a case of hacking into the code & stylesheets?
 

If you click on the block: " products listing page " you have the " Products List Settings " box on screen to decide about how many products per row, amongst other things.
 
This sets the default for the page - I guess you could do the same for other pages.
 
You can also set different display criteria by category - go to the category admin and click on " custom layout " for the particular category you want to customise.
