Hi,

We have some new products coming that we want to start getting customers to pre-order. But we only want to collect an initial deposit, then bill the customer the balance upon shipment of their goods.

I would like customers to see the full price, but only be billed a sub-set of this price when checking out.

Has anyone got a suggestion of a way to do this in ViArt?

Thanks.

Could you sell specific Gift Vouchers for the product which the customer can redeem against the full product when available?

That's interesting.

So have a product item that is really a product coupon order costing the customer $10.

Then they can use the code when requested to pay in full (when item is available) that deducts coupon amount ($10) from total product cost of $100, therefore second transaction will go through cart at $90 only.

Let me see what that looks like.

That sort of works.

The first coupon is 90% discount on items. So customer is charged 10% of item amount. This coupon can be automatically applied so customer does not need to do anything special.

When the goods become available, the customer is asked to complete another order of same item, but asked to put in coupon code. With this code, customer has items reduced by 10% which would be equal to their deposit amount.

Although this was not exactly what I wanted, it might work. If I can explain it clearly enough so as not to confuse the customers.

Thanks Ned.

Although, any further input would be appreciated if anyone has alternative ideas how to implement deposit functionality.
