I have used the newsletter function a few times successfully.
BUT - it does not allow embedding data such as name to have a line like:
Hello, :name:, welcome . . . .

Prior to this I used Group Mail - export the customer table to Excel and import into Group Mail - easy to embed user data from the database.

Now that I have the option of [un]subscribing to the newsletter within Viart I have to filter for those who agree to e-mails only.

If I export the user db [va_users] I don't get a field that indicates whether or not newsletters are accepted.

When I look at the newsletter list [va_newsletters_users] there is no link to the user db.

Can any clever person please give me a straightforward way to download these tables to produce just a user list for those registered to accept newsletters. I don't know

As I mail out newsletters 1 or 2 times monthly I don't really want a complex process if it can be avoided ... and I am not familiar with SQL queries.

Many thanks,

Chis

Hi Chris,

If you do figure out how (and if) va_users and va_newsletters interact, I'd appreciate if you could post what you learn.

I use another full-featured autoresponder program, and have its subscribe form on a custom page in ViArt. So I need to export and add people who "register" and subscribe when they order, or when they order without registering and click the subscribe box.

When a customer subscribes to newsletters in registration Viart adds his e-mail address to va_newsletters.

When a customer un-subscribes Viart simple removes the email address from va_newsletters.

There appears to be no link between the two tables. And that is why I am struggling to download customers who are subscribed!

It might also be the reason Viart does not insert customer data into the newsletter? I would have thought that a field in va_users - subscribed: yes/no - would do the job better?

And, as customers subscribe and un-subscribe daily I need to be able to download an correct up to date list every time I want to do a newsletter using an external program.
