Hello, I've successfully set up my viart commerce site & I would like to open another website with the exact same products, but only allow for people in Spain to order my products.

My question is, what is the easiest way to duplicate the entire website and upload to a new domain? The products are the same, the shipping is the same, etc. so I do not wish to insert everything manually. EVERYTHING is pretty much the same.

Furthermore, how do I limit it to only people from Spain purchasing the products?

I can't see how you can restrict a web site to a country. But you can use multi sites so that you work with only one database and then customise one site to be a Spanish site.

The only problem is, if you want this site to be in Spanish you cannot specify that one site is only English and the other only Spanish - both would be multi lingual.

However, where I have a French option on mine, I have custom blocks that are specifically for French users and English blocks for UK visitors.

See my site: http://www.malikstores.co.uk

If you have a different payment method for Spain then it is possible to specify which method is use in which sites (languages).

I hope this helps

It would be good if the edit country section (static tables) allowed sites to be chosen for each country.

United Kingdom = www.mydomain.com/site1

Spain = www.mydomain.com/site2

then all the other countries in this section set to "not show for user"

Then also set up different shipping methods for only these 2 countries, Uk and Spain.

Not forgetting also that you can set the default country for each site also via system > global settings.

In addition have you considered having a "splash" home page consisting of 2 images or list options which state UK or Spain only. After making the choice then they enter the main site for the country they have chosen.

This would also keep out non UK or Spain clients!

That said we have only UK in our drop down menu at checkout and still get odd order from USA

Oh yes, freezer, we only supply EU countries and make it clear on the page that this is the case but we still get enquiries from the USA asking how they can order as their country is not listed.

Stats show that more than half my visitors are from outside the EU - mostly from the USA. You cannot get round that.

I originally thought that I would have one site for the UK and another for outside the UK. I now have four sites through multi site and all accept order from any EU country. I use the language module to offer the site in English or French and get a spread of orders across the Union.

Mikey F. is there a particular reason for wanting to limit one site to Spain?

Google will penalize you for two duplicate web sites, Google will try to determine which one is the original and penalize the duplicate.

I have four duplicate sites and currently good ratings for three of these - one on page one and the others on pages two and three.

Whilst the products are identical I try to make each look differently and put unique blocks on each.

Christopher, I am very curious why you are reluctant to sell to the USA?

If you have interest from there then why not satisfy that interest by supplying your goods to them???

The sheer cost of shipping for low-value low-margin items is one good reason.

The second is that our carrier will not carry some of our product types by air - by sea is not a viable option for us.

Finally, in the EU we have no tax or documentation implications - simple trading. Saves on staff and admin costs.

Chasing sales volume can be the downfall for any business - I will only satisfy demand that is profitable.

Dear all
I am having a similar situation with my business in that I wish to service several countries - Australia & UK. I am based in Australia and have payments made in AUD$. I need to have a UK based setup working in GBP$ with distribution there as well. The distribution I am nearly complete with it, I just need the web site content to be in Pounds and Pence. I will later develop into the USA but that is later on down the track.
