Not sure who else would find the option to have additional tabs below each product useful, but if so, let me know if you're able to go in on this customization?
If you would like to have a quote for the functionality you described, please provide screenshots of admin settings and how it needs to look on the user side.
If you want our opinion how it needs to work, then the most simple way is to add a new tab "Additional Tabs" on Edit Product page with ability to add as many tabs as you want. The setting for each tab could look like:
"Order" "Title" "HTML"
For now we don't plan to add this functionality in the version.
I'm not concerned about how it's accessed or done in the shop but what I'm looking for is this:
Ability to have another tab (custom) under a product. I want to add Video's for a product type. I guess it would be best to have this set up so that I could specify a certain tab added to each product of that type. Then it will display for that product on the product screen, and I could add either:
1.) Images (grid layout) with specified/auto sizing feature so that they layout on a grid very organized.
2.) Videos that would play in an ajax pop up once selected (a preview image would be displayed on the tab of course).
3.) Links - Ability to add links for customers to click on.
On the user end, these tabs would be displayed. Depending on the number of tabs, they would automatically go into rows of tabs, such as in the admin panel where there are 2 rows of tabs for product adding screen. The information on the tabs, would not load until clicked on so that there's reduced loading time. ( A loading icon could be present until loaded, but that's not a big deal).
This would be VERY useful to many of us, and would be a very good marketable feature for you to display.

I would LOVE to be able to add custom tabs - ones that I could add to specific products that I can name whatever I want. This would be the answer to something I am still trying to figure out a fix for.
I had asked about what appears to be this same subject a while back, but just hadn't gotten back to it. Please let me know what you think the price would be.
(Below is a copy of my original message to ViArt to make sure we are talking about the same thing. How did you get it to post with the blue like it does in the support section? )
Yes our programmers can develop additional tab functionality for you. Please let us know if you wish to have a quote for this customization.
ViArt Software Team
Is it possible to create a custom product tab? Right now I see Description, Specification, and Reviews, but I have some products that I would like to create a custom tab for, if possible.
Please just let me know.

I am putting together a chart/diagram for the customization. I will post here prior to sending to viart (probably this weekend). This would allow us to have this tab added by individual product, or even by product type
If you share the cost for customization with fellow users, you automatically agree to such terms:
1. Feature is released only in the new version where it becomes available to all users.
2. No refunds.
3. ViArt has a right to modify the feature to make it more universal for all users or postpone its release.
In other words you contribute to the feature development and we try to develop it according to your needs but we develop it on our own terms and how we see it fit best.
If that's okay with you we can offer to develop a simplified version of Additional Tabs where it would be available on Product Type and Edit Product levels, the settings will look like this:
3. HTML textbox
Please look at this screenshot above to have a better idea.
Such customization will cost $400.
If you would like more advanced tabs functionality with some additional settings like Access Levels, User Types, Sites, Countries, Window Type, Number of Rows etc. the cost will be higher.

I would need the advanced. If the request stated the advanced, and I went through the effort of defining what I needed, then that's what I'm requesting.

As the additional options are not described at all:
"It would be important to have the following options:
o Users who’ve purchased
o All Users
o Logged on Users
o Videos (stream)
o Text box w/ WYSIWYG editor"
The rough estimate is $1200 - 1600.

I guess I should explain better (thought it was pretty clear:
Looking to have the ability to upload/choose images to be displayed in the Tab (would appear in grid format)
Would have these downloads available to a.) Users who've purchased b.) All Users C.) Registered Users
Like Images, upload/choose videos to be displayed
4.) Text Box/HTML box with WYSIWYG editor.
1200 - 1600 is rediculous!!! It's beyond outrageuos. I could see 600.00

That's why we proposed alternative simplified version of tabs functionality which we already implemented for some customers in different areas of the shop for different purposes. And it's up to you to decide if you'd like tabs functionality with all possible options or probably get a general customization like it was proposed by our team. For example, you could specify images and videos with the help of html tags and it would lower the cost.

Something already implemented in other areas would take 16 hrs to do (400/$25)? ViArt has stated prior that customizations are $25.00/hr for items which are globally implemented.
Okay, so here's the design of the new Tabs. Any input from anyone?
NOTE: DO not pay attn to the Breadcrumb. This is what it will look like when creating a new tab.

So this customization would be at the product type level, is that correct? Would the tab then show for all products under that product type or only if you put something in it on the product level? (Sorry if I am confused.)
29 Jun 2011 9:23 PM
Good Question. If selected under the type, and filled out, then you can have the same tab displayed for all products under that category (tab wouldn't be different for each product, just each type).
Alternatively, which would be used most often, there would be a link under each product called 'additional tabs' whereas you would be able to add tabs, and each would look like the image in just posted today.
The PDF shows how the URLS are under each product type and/or product

It was perfect until there response:
The last screenshots you sent are more clear, thanks. Our estimate for such kind of functionality is $1200. Please note:
-> it is fixed price
-> we will release this feature in one of the next versions
-> we can proceed to it only after One Page Checkout functionality is implemented.

I like the idea, Dan, but this is too much for me even shared

ugh... I have to agree with christopherO.
4 Jul 2011 4:49 PM
I agree. We would need 12 people in on this.

Perhaps I would feel better if we had that often promised manual so that I could be sure I was already getting the best I can from the software as it is already!!
15 Jul 2011 9:48 PM
Perhaps there waiting for a Group Purchase for a operation manual...
15 Jul 2011 10:56 PM
I'm currently on developing my own product which will have the additional tabs feature, an updated support manual, etc.
