Really sorry to keep harping on about this subject.

Guys at Viart,

I realise that some of the features of the shop are overridden by the dictatorial and repressive Google checkout Gestapo, but is there no way that the customer name, shipping address and email can be captured to the database?

If the order total and product and order status can be passed to the website, can other customer details be called from Google?

It is going to make processing a very long winded and complex process otherwise.

Kind regards
Kim

Hello, Kim

If you make appropriate settings in the Google payment system (via the Admin console), then Google Checkout will return the order details to your website. We would recommend you to consult our installation notes on the Edit Page of the Google Checkout Payment system to get a tip on setting the return page. If it is correctly configured, then Google will return order data to your site.

With kind regards,
ViArt Support Team

Dear BattleAxe,

Do you know the filename or link to the "installation notes on the Edit Page of the Google Checkout Payment system"? I did a search, a look and could not find the reference listed. is it in the package, on the ViArt website or hidden in the payment module?

Thanks for your good questions and suggestions.

Sincerely, Mikey

Hi Mikey

This a copy/paste of the notes, it is on your website in the admin. If you go to set up Google in the admin and edit settings, it is in a textbox on that page. Also to comply you must go to (in your admin) CMS --> Basket Page Layout. Highlight the Shopping Cart Block. At the top right hand corner of the a box will appear and you must check the box to enable Google Checkout button.

Parameters description:

'action_url' must be
For testing purposes: https://sandbox.google.com/checkout/cws/v2/Merchant/[[Your-Merchant-ID]]/checkout
For production site: https://checkout.google.com/cws/v2/Merchant/[[Your-Merchant-ID]]/checkout
Production URL example: https://checkout.google.com/cws/v2/Merchant/1234567890/checkout

For full Integration you must go to 'Settings, Profile' in your Google Checkout account
Testing account
https://sandbox.google.com/checkout/sell/settings?section=Profile
or live one
https://checkout.google.com/sell/settings?section=Profile
and set in field 'Public business website' your URL to order_final.php
For example: http://www.your_site.com/order_final.php.

Also you have to go to 'Settings, Integration' and set in field 'API callback URL' your URL to google_checkout.php
For example: http://www.your_site.com/payments/google_checkout.php
and set 'Callback method' to 'XML'.

THANK YOU!!! I've just received my letter of non-compliance and your posts here, Kim, have greatly, greatly helped me. I was stumbling around in Google's "help" pages trying to figure out how to generate the right html code when I realized the little checkbox was in my shopping cart block all along... thanks to you :) Thank you! And thank you ViArt for providing the fix!!!

Kim - or anyone else - I am now thinking again about using Google for one of my sites.

I would very much appreciate any current experience and advice (I use PayPal Pro on my main site and PayPal Standard [as I only have one ssl] on another)

My last impression of Google when I tried it many months ago was that their process managed orders requiring the merchant to enter delivery details into Google itself, notwithstanding that Viart does this very well.

Also this issue of the Google badge on site?

Hope to get some good advice

Thanks

Chris
