I'm adding images to product listings, and I can't figure out why the system is rearranging the order the images are displayed. For example, I upload the images in order 1,2,3,4 and the system displays them in the order 4,3,2,1. I try reordering them with the sort function, but that doesn't change the images order on the product details page. This is very frustrating because I have to keep deleting all the images and start over, but there is no guarantee that the system will put them in the correct order the next time.
 
Anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this? I'm stuck and pissed off.

Are you changing order through 'change product order' function in product admin?
