Hello everyone,

I want to set up a site where the user has to sign up for a membership. It can be either mothly recurring or yearly. I was looking at the recurring subcription page, but it only gave information to recur payments on certain products, not memberships. I want the user to pay a price before entering my site, and if they don't renew then they look access.

I'm so close to buying shop standard but I need to know if what i'm trying to do is possible. Please help.

followup: If this is not possible (which i'm sure it is), then what about a way to sign up to my site for free, but if you want to become a VIP member it will charge a recurring fee (either monthly or yearly) and you can purchase all of the products a regular (free) member would but at a discount.

Please, I am very concerned. If any of this can be done then I'm sold on this product. Please guys,

Reuben

Such function already available in the shop, just go to users groups and there for any of user group you can specify subscription options.

Thank you so much monk. You don't know how much I appreciate you helping me on this. After I set up the membership details (price, recurring info etc), what are the following steps? Once again, you really don't know how you've helped me out. Cheers,

Reuben

Not sure what following steps you are interesting in?

In case if you specify all subscription options then after regisration user will be automatically redirected to order page to pay for his subscription and only after he will pay for it he will be able to login on site using his details.

Also you can add some discounts rules for every user group or specify different prices for products for each user group.

Don't know what else I can advise you I don't know

You can set up in a different way

create 1 product "membership" as bundle with price=0
then create other products like
"3 months membership" (click on tab recurring options and set it up accordingly)
"6 months membership" (same)
"12 months membership" (same)

then go back to your first product (the bundle) and add subcomponents:
choose the 3, 6 and 12 months products you created

check www.remoterestore.com

Hmm.. I like that as well. What would you say are the benefits of doing it that way? I'm assuming you work with remoterestore.com, how do you like to recurring billing system that comes with viart? Any problems? Thank you,

Reuben

my friend, setting the recurring systems was a pain in the neck but it works with no problems.

The advantage on doing the subcomponents is that you can
add coupons for your clients (like 50% off) or offer first month free (auto applied coupon for the amount of the fisrt month), etc

What happens to the product once the recurring billing is finished? Does it just disappear? We would like to sell software on a subscription basis, but I would need it to show as expired once the recurring billing time is up. Thanks for any help!
