Here's a question:

Why is there not an order editor. Of all the functionality available in this software, an order editor is not one of them.

Does anyone else feel the need for an order editor? I would assume we should all be, but who's willing to put in for it?

Sure, this is a facility we very much need:

to include user editing, item qty, total cost amount, shipping cost etc

Has anybody received a quote for this work?

Exactly... I don't understand why this wasn't thought of before. ALL other shopping cart programs I've used have had this ability. It's much needed. Thanks for the input Smile

Who's willing to go in on this? I'll ask for a quote Smile

Yes Dan - very likely.

I just need to understand your requirement as I may be very interested.

I have previously asked to be able to modify an order when the actual goods shipped are different to the order - we may have out of stock and refund; we may substitute; etc.
We would want to edit the order to reflect the actual shipment. This would then mean that the financial reporting for the accounts would be right.

I might actually prefer to be able to add a (sub) order - such as order #200 would have sub order #200a ... 200a would be the adjustment. This would preserve the original order for record keeping; the adjustment (200a) would then match the financial receipt or refund.

And this would also then adjust points.

There is a problem doing anything with the Call Centre as it does nor recognize options and, whilst it is possible to amend the sales value the system does not pick up the true cost.

If this is what you have in mind you can definitely count me in for a financial contribution to the coding.

Hello,

Order editing is already available in ViArt shopping cart:

Please, go to Admin > Orders > Sales / Orders > the order you are willing to edit > View/Edit link, please click on the link of the product purchased in this order (on the left side of the page), it will lead to the page where you will be able to edit the order.
ViArt also offers the possibility to add/delete predefined fields in the order or even add your own custom fields. For this, please go to Admin > Order > Order Profile Page.

Please, kindly check these order editing possibilities and let us know in case you need other edit functions sending a request to ViArt support center.

As for update of shipping costs it is not presently available in ViArt shopping cart.

With regards,
ViArt Support Team

Hi Natalia,

Thanks for the reply,

You are of course correct Broad grin

I would though be interested in making it more advanced.

i.e function to add / delete products in the order page
change shipping
change delivery address....

Hello Natalia,

My problem is having an audit trail.

I need to preserve the original order so that it can be reconciled with the PayPal statement. When I finally move trading from my old shop to my Viart shop the numbers of orders each month will be in the upper hundreds - I need easy efficient payment evidence for my auditor.

A supplementary "order" showing the change would then also relate to the respective item on the PayPal statement keeping evidence and reconciliation easy.

I can't do this in "Create Order" as this -
- will require a payment [Payment will have been made with a PayPal button : or it may be a refund]
- it does not handle options and their costs and selling price variations.

So I think we should collaborate on what we want the order editor to do, and get this custom option created. I need to be able to add items to orders (e.g. coupons), etc. it should work sort of like the call center on the functionality of adding removing items, along with the current option on how to adj quantities.

I would be very happy to share with this but only if it were comprehensive with the facility to create supplementary orders for changes and refunds - and also properly handle options and related costs.

Okay, so from what I'm coming up with, here's what we're looking for.

1.) Option to add/remove products and coupons to the cart.
2.) Option to edit shipping costs
3.) Option to add on a seperate yet connected changes with negative amounts therefore creating a refund or change (please let me know if that is what you're looking for..

So who all is in on this feature?

4) editing customer invoice / delivery details on order page

This aspect is already available. from what I can see. Just click edit on the delivery information box.

Also, maybe what there should be (defaulted as a yes) but the option to show an "*" astrek next to changes, plus the name of the admin that changed it. (also not to show the changes for the user/customer as well)

We seem to be getting somewhere useful.

5 When a product is selected for the order, the option can also be selected and the cost and selling price used according to that option.

Chris,

5a - but also where everything is editable price-wise?

See, to me, this is something that should have already been implemented into Viart. For this to be something "custom" is kind of silly to me. This is something that SHOULD be useful to ANY e-tailer out there. Customers call all of the time to add/change their order. At many times, people want to change things. To have the ability to change things before sending them out and having it visible to the customer to re-approve on their screen is crucial in this business.

One reason to me, is that this:

Say you go to a place and buy something. You realize after buying that you don't really "need" that one item. Do you really want the customer to call and cancel the order, or do you want to allow them the option to just cancel one item?

Do you really want to create a call center order to add 1 item to their purchase?

I believe this order functionality should also have the ability to post a payment line on the invoice so that when we make changes, we can have a balance and then run that balance either as a credit or charge to the customer's account.

That's a good point you make. It should be incorporated.

I have just looked an order product edit

" Administration > Orders Maintenance > Order > Edit Order Product "

It is good to see the option at the foot of the order.

It shows : -
# - Option Name - Option Value - Additional Price - Additional Weight

... but NO reference to cost. Further up the page there is the " Buying Price ".
It is almost as though the cost for the option does not matter.

It is crucial for the correct cost always to appear where there is an addition or amendment to an order.

Yes, so from what we have here, I'm going to see what viart says on this subject and see what they will charge us to do what we want them to do.
