Hello

Thanks for the spreadsheet

Dan, you can download the file from here:
http://www.viartsolutions.com/upload/Order_Editor.xls

I think we should start off with Feature 1 as we have 3 persons already agreed on it.

Hello

I think we should be in contact through MSN/Yahoo etc.

excel 2002 should read one of the files however one of them is in excel 2007.

Chris: I agree with you and I'm not going to say that people shouldn't want really nice features, but just that sometimes really nice features have to grow and not just start as a huge deal.

Lets start what we have and later on make more customizations to it. I believe what we're looking for is quite simple on what we need: ability to add/edit/remove items from orders, and in two cases, apply a sub-order to it.

Yes Dan - there is a knack in knowing where to stop Laughing

Interestingly everyone demands more and more and then complains at the cost!!

I'm sure we can get just at least two more of the forum lurkers to chip in! Option 1 is definately something we all need!

Alright all. So we're at 50.00 each for the option 1, anyone else who joins will help decrease it even further. I don't see why other people don't need this option..

Okay this is going somewhere for sure:

Only thing I don't like is that if this many people need the feature, Viart's system should already have this functionality by default without someone having to pay for the implimentation. This is why we paid for the product in the first place.

Dan,

excel 2002 should read one of the files however one of them is in excel 2007.

Can you please save it as Excel 2002?

Secondly, I'm used to paying 100's of dollars, I use Miva Cart now, I've probably spent over $1,500 USD for what I have now. It's not a big deal for me to spend it, but if you're going to spend it, and then the feature shows up in the next release, I guess the point is - WHY SHOULD I spend it?

It seems a bit strange - with Miva, you code up modules that can be installed in the cart, every module cost $$, and it's not part of the main Miva release, if it were, Miva would probably cost $5,000 USD.

On another point, if I need something to do something very specific, I'm more likely to write it myself (especially since it would cost me $1,000's to have someone else write it, and it probably still wouldn't work the way I need it to), and then hope to find others up here who might also be interested in it - I posted a question about this.

Here's an example, I deal with cart information that is Private, such as people's birth certificate names, and birth cities, dates, times, etc. I need to have a 'Save to Wish List' feature that can let people tell others about their wish list, but HIDE the personal information when the order is NOT taking place from the orignial person's account.... on and on, this is just one example... As you can see, very few other people are going to require this feature, so most likely I'll write it myself.

Now, other features such as the Order Editor you are speaking of, everyone would use - but still, to just throw every single thing custom written into the next release seems strange, like there would be FEATURE OVERLOAD???

Does anyone from Viart ever reply? I hardly ever see it, only people using the cart.

Thanks,
-Brett

So how do we proceed with the payment ?

I think It should be directed to Viart.

SajMalik
SajMalik
Yes Ibn Saeed, once Dan gets it agreed we can each pay for customization using the same product title that Dan can give us?

I suggest that those who contribute to the addons, should have a special tag to identify them as Contributors such as found in Oscommerce/Magento etc. forums.

This would encourage others to join in.

I'm going to wrap this up on friday afternoon and hope to get this initiated first thing monday morning. I've got a lot of things to do, and this is on the list and I want to get my list of things to do cleared up Smile I believe Friday is plenty of time.

So far, we've come a long way and I'm very pleased in the participation we've received so far.

If all projects could have as much assistance Smile!!!

But my question still remains unanswered.

How would be payment be made ?

would be through Paypal to Dans account or Directly to Viart ?

TOCDCO

Directly to Viart... I do not want to assume responsibility for that aspect. I will if it needs to be done, but I'll be asking viart to make these charges individually for us Smile

Thats great. Its best that Viart handle it directly.

Now each person has to pay $33.00 for the first option.

This is coming up great.

That's a very useful spreadsheet.

It would be good to see more contributors for 4a [Ability to create a sub-order from existing order] and sharing cost as I expect that this will prove invaluable in practice Wink.
