the order status is not changing to [paid] after succesful paypal transaction.
what should the advanced parameters be in the [edit status] page?
i have followed the instruction in the installation notes box and setup paypal accordingly..
is there a checklist i can go through to ensure i have everything setup correctly?

sorry to be replying to my own posts..
 
looking at this further, all orders seem to stay at the [new order placed] stage and dont update any further..
im thinking this is not paypal related at all..
 
why wont it update the status, is there a database problem possibly..?

In regard to PayPal please make sure that Final Checkout Page is properly set up for this payment gateway.
 
It must have the following settings
Additional Validation: checked
Validation Script: ./payments/paypal_pdt.php
ans statuses set as you like it. Ussually we use Paid, Pending and Failed statuses for this purpose.

would i benefit from using a non-relative path to the validation script.?
all status are set correctly..
i would be happy to give my admin login details should you need to have a look for yourself..

Please also check that your PayPal account is set up exactly like the follwoing instruction advises.
 
Identity token is used along with PayPal PDT method.
 
To use PDT, you must activate PDT and Auto Return in your PayPal account profile. You must also acquire a PDT identity token, which is used in all PDT communication you send to PayPal.
 
Follow these steps to configure your account for PDT:
1. Log in to your PayPal account.
2. Click the Profile subtab.
3. Click Website Payment Preferences in the Seller Preferences column.
4. Under Auto Return for Website Payments, click the On radio button.
5. For the Return URL, enter the URL on your site that will receive the transaction ID posted by PayPal after a customer payment. (http://www.yoursite.com/order_final.php)
6. Under Payment Data Transfer, click the On radio button.
7. Click Save.
8. Click Website Payment Preferences in the Seller Preferences column.
9. Scroll down to the Payment Data Transfer section of the page to view your PDT identity token

By the way, 'at' parameter must be 'Not passed' for security reasons.
Does your browser return from PayPal site to your shop site after successful payment?
If not, it means that your PayPal account is not set up to Auto Return. Please check carefully.

yes paypal does return to the site upon transaction completion..
everything works as it should but without changing the status..
very weird..!!

We have fixed bug in the PayPal IPN module after version 2.8 has been released.
 
Please download updated version of the files from here
http://www.viart.com/downloads/paypal_ipn.zip
Then extract file into the 'payments' subfolder of your
shop replacing existing one.
