am trying to process a recurring payment via PayPal API.

Under Payment Settings...When the following is ticked Ticked:

1. "Automatically create order for next payment" - The recurring order rocesses but PayPal does not process any amount and there is no monetary transaction.

2. "Automatically create and bill recurring orders" - I receive an error message "Error: Empty response from PayPal, please check your payment settings"

I would like to use ViArt for processing Recurring transactions using PayPal API.

Is this possible.. why am I unable to do this and what is the solution?

Hello, Tony

First of all, please check if you correctly set the path for an SSLCert parameter. Please note that it is better to use an absolute path, like: '/home/user_name/public_html/cert_key_pem.txt
If you set this path incorrectly, then most likely you will get the following error:
"Empty response from PayPal, please check your payment settings"

Then change the Recurring Method to bill automatically orders - 'Automatically create and bill recurring orders' because another option 'Automatically create order for next payment' - only creates a new order and then a user has to submit payment details manually.

Uncheck the option 'Cut off from credit card number four last digits' on the 'Payment Details Page' because you will require full credit card information to automatically bill recurring orders.

For 'Credit Card Number' and 'Security Code' select 'Save encrypted' option so the credit card data are saved encrypted in your database.
