I notice that example products appear in the Top as well as in their respective sub-categories; but when I add a test product in a subcategory, it doesn't appear in the Top category, only in the subcategory.

Must a product be linked to the Top category as well ? If so, is duplication the only way to do this ?

Sub-sections of 5.4 in the ViArt Shop manual on Adding New Product is missing!

When you add or edit a category, you have the option:

Subcategories Products [ ] (show for this category the products from the bottom subcategories)

Just check this option.

Thank you Chris, I have made the changes on my test products and they are displaying correctly.

However, in the Products & Categories set up screen, I still can't figure out why those sample products need to be associated with the Top category as well as other categories.

Also when adding a new product, it will only be assigned to the category where you choose to click the Add New button. From then on, the General tab does not have an option to select which category you want to assign the new product to.

I find this rather tedious if you want to assign the product to a different category or assign to more than one different main categories.

When you select a category you gat a list of products in that category.
Beneath each product is the line of links:

This is the product name here Edit
Prices | Images | Options & Components | Specification | Related | Categories | Accessories | Releases

Click 'categories' and it is your birthday Wink

Thanks again Chris; I now realised I have to change my approach to adding new products; and I found out that products not assigned to Top categories does not show up on the Product page on first load, before the user click on a category.

As for adding new products, I now start by adding all products to Top category, then go to each sub-category to decide which items to assign.
