My server has gone down three times in the past seven weeks.
I complained about reliability (I have used 1&1 for many years with no problem, but issues are cropping up on the server that I only use for my Viart software site).
 
They e-mailed me:

This is in regards to your managed server. We noticed that you are currently using the advanced configuration in the Control Panel for your server. For most websites this is fine, however, there can be problems with some people's websites and can cause random resets like you are experiencing. I would suggest doing two things. You could leave the advanced configuration on and turn on the PHP module. Or you can completely disable the Advanced Config. Then you can see how your websites run with better configured settings.

I turned on PHP Module and Zen Optimiser failed so I had to turn it off again.
 
I am reluctant to play with settings and wondered whether anyone had any advice about this?

The problems you encounter with the server are not related to ViArt software. This could be caused by specific server settings which we can not check. Please, refer to your hosting provider for more details.

Yes since posting this I have had more dialogue.
 
I never felt it was a Viart issue else I would have raised a support ticket. But I wondered whether there were any other 1&1 users who might be able to help.
 
I have now taken further advice and disabled the performance server which I am told is not required to run my site.
 
All is OK and I am waiting to see whether the server goes down again.

I currently use HostMonster. They're superb. The prices are extremely fair and the options and such are wonderful. I don't have many outages...maybe once every couple months it will get sluggish for a period of time.
 
I'm going to be starting my own servers here soon though, so that should eliminate this problem.

I have used 1&1 for over 12 years and my downtime issues are only very recent so I have no concern in general to be fair to them.
I have two servers. The 'professional' server has been exceptionally good over the years but the one I have for the Viart shop is a dedicated server and clearly I just needed to get this right.
