hi all
if i wanted to exclude some of the counties i ship to do i have to delete them from the static list or am i able to deselect them in case i want to add them later?

You indeed would have to delete them, however you can select policies on the shipping that would indicate allawances only to specific countries... not sure if that helps....
Also, the shipping modules have countries and states that you can designate as well.

Surely the best solution to this would be to have a tickbox so you can turn off the countries you dont want for now and allow them later as you expand.

I agree, jr1966. The trouble is that everything is growing so fast that what was OK once now needs changing - and, I guess, there have to be priorities.
A have seen two significant upgrades in six months.
Suggest you put this in "Features Requests" where Viart will pick it up and may add this to a new release.

It doesn't appear as though this feature was ever implemented, was it?
Is the only solution to remove countries from the DB?

Well actually it was implemented long time ago. To exclude some country from the shipping method you need to deselect "Use this shipping type for all countries (untick this checkbox to select countries manually)" and add all countries to the right box except the one you don't want to ship to.
