When setting up the classified ad section, I find that I cannot get the ability for a person to enter a new ad. I can get the catagories and sections to show, but not a new entry block/window/section.

Me again. Seems I may have been a bit hasty in my question about this. It seems that I must require a visitor to register to allow them to post an ad. I really didn't want to have that requirement, but it seems it is necessary. I was merely trying to make that particular section one that "anyone" could use, but see too that, in hindsight, by the person registering and having their name on file, if anything happened with that persons' post and it went sour, legally or otherwise, at least I'd be covered and also, have a way to provide evidence if need be, of who it was that actually did the post as well as when, etc. Can't say I feel a bit like a noob, but still getting used to the package. :)

Chris,

I have the forum on my site, however I don't get this stuff. Either way, things happen and there will always be people trying to be dumb.

Hi Dan

I don't actually need a fully active forum, in truth, but I do have an advice area - customers ask their questions and professionals answer them*; I then allow rating/reviews which I can moderate.

I used to use 'SMF - simple machines' for my forums in past sites - in the end, despite all the care to protect against hacking and rogues, all forums got attacked and abused. Too much negative distraction from running a business.

* They are added by me through admin just as if it were a moderated area. The Viart forum does not allow items to be set for approval before publishing, as with product rating, so this works best for me.
