IT'S ABOUT TIME...
----------------------------------------------------
A lot of people have setup Windows Server 2008 with my prior walk-through... NOW, there's a new answer on the market without going through those horrific steps:

http://php.iis.net/

* Supported Operating Systems are Windows Vista RTM, Windows Vista SP1, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008.
* You must have a live Internet connection.
* You must have administrator privileges on your computer to run the Web Platform Installer.
* .NET 2.0 Framework
* Supported Architectures: x86 and 64-bit

The Microsoft Web Platform makes it simple, easy, and reliable.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Im planning to use the new beta setup for this and see how Viart reacts since the software is completely "ZEND OPTIMIZER PICKY". I'll update as soon as I know the results.

MAJOR PROBLEMS! My first attempt with the WPI:

#1. Zend Optimizer will NOT load with FastCGI.
#2. MCRYPT is a PAIN to re-compile.
#3. Viart wont detect without Zend Optimizer.

Soooo... I tried ZEND SERVER:

#1. Viart will NOT detect Zend Optimizer!

Soooo...I tried ZEND CORE:

#1 Viart will NOT detect Zend Optimizer!
------------------------------------------------------------------

WOW! Talk about PICKY! That's pretty sad when a $300 program only supports ONE program installed ONE certain way. (WELCOME TO VIART!)

Oh well.. Looks like we are going back to ISAPI... Sorry FastCGI. *sniff*

Woohoo! Apologies... After 3 days of fighting with FastCGI, Zend Optimizer, PHP, and Windows Server 2008 Permission Nightmares...

IT WORKS! IT WORKS! IT WORKS!

So... It's ALMOST time to do an install walk-through for those who want the latest and greatest. :) Want to see fast??? This makes ISAPI stand still. Instead of 30 minutes to conjure up the viart database, it took 10 seconds!!

Here's my Setup:

Hardware: Dell T105 Server
OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64)
Web Server: IIS 7.5 (x64)
PHP: Version 2.9.2-2 (x86)
MySQL: Version 5.1 (x64)
PhpmyAdmin: Version 3.2.0-rc1 (x86)

Also Optional Success: SQL Server 2008 R2 (x64)

Now I just need someone who knows how to re-compile PHP for the support so I can *puff puff pass*.
