Following problems with my dedicated server, the provider [1&1] has recommend that I set php to run as a cgi as this can save on resources and reduce some downtime problems I have been experienceing.
 
Can anyone tell me whether I may have adverse consequences with doing this when running Viart scripts?
 
I am not a programmer so a very technical response will go over my head

Hello if you want a suggestion you better look for another hosting solution.
 
I have had issues with client websites who have tried to run php scripts.
 
I think they may restrict php to a certain level. Not sure though.
