I guess I'm overlooking something and need help.

Let's say I want to enter a product such as a sauce, and we have two sizes available - 8 oz and 16 oz. I have 6 of the 8oz in stock and 4 of the 16oz in stock.

When entering a product, there's a place to enter stock level. If I put 0 or 10, either answer is wrong.

When adding options such as sizes, there's also a field for stock level there, so I put that we had 6 of the 8oz and 4 of the 16oz.

When I enter the product, and if I enter 10 as the stock level, the order process lets me choose up to 10 total of the sauce without differentiating between the 8oz and the 16oz size stock levels.

But if I remove the stock level from the main product entry and just leave it in options, then it assumes we don't have any in stock.

Am I overlooking a setting?

Hello,

Anjula posted more info here: http://www.viart.com/stock_level_for_options-1.html

Does this help?

Thanks for the reply. It helps in that it looks like they created a plan, but unfortunately the plan isn't working.

Hi Ginger Sue.

I too had the same problem....but I have a solution.

My solution involves a little more work than adding basic options but the functionality is perfect. What I did and I will use your products for this example is the following.

1). Add 3 new products

1 x 8oz sauce
1 x 16 oz sauce
for the above ...add prices, weights, tick the stock control box and enter stock figure etc.

1 x "General Sauce" (set price to ?0, no weight, stock control feature unticked and no stock figure entered etc etc, but add images, description etc.

2). The first 2 products should be product type "product" the third product should be product type "bundle"

After adding all 3 products add the 2 sauces with prices as subcomponent selections for the general sauce.

You can then decide if you want to show the sauces with sizes on the site as individual products or tick them to not show.....they will still be available as options for the general sauce (bundle)even if you tick them not to show on the site.

The description, images etc can all be added to the general sauce.....if you don't add this info to the sized sauces bear in mind that if you allow them to show up on the site that non of this info will be available to the shopper. I decided not to show the products other than as a subcomponent through the general sauce so there is only one information point to update each time.

Don't forget though that you can quickly copy details from a previous product each time you add a new one so whilst this process may take slightly longer there is not much in it compared to adding basic options. The good thing is that the subcomponents show up in the products report because they are "real" products, unlike basic options.

Hope this helps.

P.s there is a bug if you use a minimum order criteria for coupons, it doesn't seem to include the value of the subcomponents when checking if the minimum order level is reached before apllying the coupon. Viart have said this will be fixed in the next release.

Sorry forget to mention that because the general sauce is a bundle type product only the subcomponents show in the basket and invoices etc which I presume is what you want. In addition only the stock figure for the subcomponent is reduced.

It is also great in the fact that when adding a size of sauce to your basket it looks at the stock figure of the subcomponent to decide whether to allow the sale, so if for example 8 oz was out of stock it would still allow the sale of the 16oz but not allow the sale of the 8oz

I am a new user of the cart and was just going through old posts in the forum in order to find something to solve a similar problem like in this thread. Freezer's solutions seems to work well for me (most of my lotion-products comes in two sizes - bottles or packets) except that I can't get the minimum order for the sub-components to be reflected in the bundle when the sub-components are "ticked". Has anyone a solution for this, is it a bug or is it meant not to be possible (in the last case, I don't see the use of minimum order and minimum increments in the sub-components spec!).
