So, I was hoping ViArt would be able to comment here on when they expect to release a new version. It's been 8 months almost since a release, and I know we're all expecting some great new features. It's said by ViArt that a release happens about every 3-6 months, so I'm curious as to what improvements are going to be made?

Dan one improvement that they said they would do is to allow user PHP modification which I suggested almost a year ago ( http://www.viart.com/php_modification.html ) and the latest from ViArt was:
"We are planning to add these changes to our new official release, "
....which they said in March!
They also didn't say how they would implement it.

Hi Dan & Ned - it has been one of the plusses of Viart that it keeps improving; and there must have been a number of private mods to declare public now - I have had a couple done for starters.
 
BUT - above all, I hope that the priority is on ease of upgrade - it would be revolutionery for a VIART upgrade to be just for the files that have changed and not a complete re-install?

I definitely agree with you. There should be a way for the software to have an auto upgrade feature. Click on update, and it will pull all updated files to your site. This would allieviate the need to have the updated files area on the forums. An instant notification at login to your admin panel would raise confidence that we have the most up to date files. (only problem with that would be due to customizations, however this could simply mean that those files would be in a table on our database called custom files, and the system would know to ignore those files).
 
I still feel that an update is due, however I will be releasing the beta version of my updated cart as mentioned in another forum shortly.
 
Plan is to just take ViArt to the next level with enhancements that are in dire need (eg. Order Editor, updated Forums, more advanced CMS editor, etc)

When we all purchased the cart a while back, they have stated that we will be given updates about once every quarter. It has been a YEAR since we've seen an update. Now, we are past our free upgrade time, and we will now have to pay for this update.
 
2 things need to happen:
 
A.) We need to be able to test the cart (live preview mode on this viart website).
 
B.) Going forward, they need to be sure to release an update quarterly.

My biggest concern now is upgrading with all the mods - they are mainly mods done for me by Viart but there is always some feeling that something will be lost.
 
I get Viart to do the upgrade for me and have to pay extra because my set up is special. I don't really have a problem with the cost but I wish upgrading was easier.
 
It would also be helpful to have even more detailed explanations about using new features; there has been much talk in the past about a new manual. Perhaps as I get older I just need more help!

I have been told that the design in 3.7 has changed from the table structure to the div which is I think will be easier to customize the cart. I am also looking forward for the new release to be published soon. Hope it will be before the end of this month

I hope, that in 3.7 we have an option to check for patches, and download/install them from the admin.
 
Also could be great to add identifier numbers for paches, and record the installs of them (with id, date, etc). By this we could alert Viart Team really fast if a bad pacth was published...

I started a forum discussion a long time ago concerning multilingual support in the shop, with many resolving promises from viart.
Nothing happend and I was tiered nagging this issue.
I hope it will be resolved in the new release

- Zend optimiser will no longer be required (so one less software to install in order to run our software)
 
- DIV based layouts

Regarding the multi-language tags, unfortunately they won't be available in version 3.7. As it is not a paid feature, it got postponed by other projects. But we can assure you that it's in our plans to implement it, maybe even before the release of the next version.

I would be really happy if there would be a chance for me to get hold of any working Viart cart, no matter what number is attached to it, 3.7, 3.6, 3.5, ... 1.2?

Are you sure your database name, user, and password, and path are correctly created and called out, especially since you are showing the cart in a subdirectory?
 
Have you tried re-installing it from scratch, very carefully following instructions? I think ViArt will tell you what's wrong if you contact support, even for the free version. They may ask you for login info so they can look at it.

ViArt has some of the finest and nicest personal in their organization and they all always willing to help.
 
vic140 is right, just contact support directly and they will help you until you are up and running, but I suggest you do some work and try it again, writing down your steps and following the instructions.

We want to apologize for some delay with the release 3.7 which was expected at the end of January. The delay has to do with completion of some new and useful features which we want to include in this release. We're planning to issue a release at the very beginning of February.
 
Here is the list of some features that will be introduced in the new version:
1) New advanced options for coupons are added.
2) Div based layouts integrated (instead of table-based layouts).
3) Ability to generate different invoice numbers depending on a selected status and different from an order number.
4) Ability to set and display different payment system(s) according to the order's total amount.
5) A feature to set a site in the Under Construction mode (offline) via Administration panel.
6) A feature to use telephone country codes before phone number fields.
7) Shipping calculator has been added.
8) A new attractive and more user-friendly look of the Admin panel.
9) A fixed amount option has been added for the Basic Tax rate.
10) Several new payment processors are added.
and much more.
