Hi yes i want to offer a simple listen to/see sample of the cd/dvd-about 2 min example. Support have let me know there is a facility for customers to download a sample but that wouldn't be ideal in my situation.I want a quick have a listen and see if you like it idea before commiting to purchase. The Viart team can do this for me so i will go for it next week. Yahoo!

What have Vi-Art proposed as a solution? I would like a video-streaming function for showing off product features. Nor downloadable products like yourself, but physical features.

I am not a html guy at all i'm afraid , so i wouldn't understand what they are going to do.All i know is i need samples of the cd/dvds to be played back . They are going to do that for me so hopefully i can get up and running with everything else i need to setup!! I wish there were a tutorial for viart - just the basic steps.I have the manual but i would like to have a video tutorial or something. Some of us can't see the wood for the trees I guess! But it would be great is say one of the forum folks could do a utube video or something.

You can create your videos on you tube, and embed the html from the videos very easily into custom blocks on your site..

I havent done it personally, but it should be quite simple...

ok . thanks. i didn't know that was possible.
I am hoping sWackoomeone will do a simple basic tutorial for creating items uploading - ideas for setting out the cart etc etc.. I am by trial and error getting there! If i knew more myself i would do one to help non techies like me!

Audio and video clips will be part of our store when we launch. We'll use most likely flash video and embed it in the html of the full description. I'm assuming this can be done, as any other html is allowed in the full description.

Just set up a custom block and use the embed code given by Youtube etc. You can also play around with the sizes of the video by reducing them so your block doesn't affect your sites page look. ie-

object width="325" height="300" & also the wmode="transparent" width="325" height="300"

If You have a programmer friend, You can automate the custom product preview block:

Get the Item Code from the dadabase (or manufacturer code, or item id, just pick one variable, that will not changed for years).

Place a simple Flash player in your block in php, and use the above variable to send the url for it. For example in php:

echo "so.addVariable(\"/previews/$item_code\");";

For this one: (http://www.premiumbeat.com/flash_resources/free_flash_music_player/mini_flash_mp3_player.php)

Now just name the pws same as the item_code, and upload them to the /previews dir.

This could be not overwritten by the viart's new releases, couse gets the variable from the db...

Oh my God! You really do not want the Search Engines to find Your page? Why You use so many texts in images?

You could find some x10%s of free visitors by use texts not text images... :)

Hi thank you for your comments.Really appreciated. Yes Vic i guess i wanted it to be simple as i myself am...emmm ...well anyway ! Let's say i need step by step assistance especially regarding web sites etc. The truth is i did ask 2 US companies to design my site / cart and they just couldn't do anything like what i have done with Viart. Mind you i wasn't asking for as much - i just wanted a simple cart site but they promised but then took the money and didn't deliver. Anyway so that's why i have ended up doing it myself.
Hi Studiotech...Thanks for your comments. At the moment it has been a very basic attempt at getting stuff up there. Please explain to me what you mean. Now i really am willing to learn here. Please give me an example of what i have perhaps on one of the images and what you suggest would make it better to find. I just found this advice.Maybe this is what you are referring to ? http://www.netmechanic.com/news/vol6/html_no1.htm
As explained above i am in all this out of sheer necessity though it has been as well as a struggle at times a real joy to work with Viart and the community.
