Hello all,
 
I am trying to move my Viart web site from one host to another, but am having a hell of a hard time doing it.
 
I've followed the steps here http://www.viart.com/move_from_testing_server.html and also asked the Viart guys to help out, but I get errors from all over the place - DB Error 1054, session_start, you name it - here it is http://ruiz58.fatcow.com/
 
I've also tried (first thing I did) a clean installation and then applying my db dump. The clean installation went flawless, but when I applied the dump, all went crazy, the page wouldn't load, then it would load with errors.
 
I'm beginning to think it might be the way I exported the dump from MyPHPAdmin. This is how I did:
 
Export "Select All"
Checked "SQL"
Checked "Structure" and in there I checked "Add drop tables", "Add if not exists", "add auto_increment", "enclose table"
Checked "Data" and in there I also checked "Complete inserts", "Extended insters", "use hexadecimal"
Didn't compress it - mostly because when I try it it gives me errors.
 
Did I do anything wrong? Is there a "right" way to create dumps for Viart?
 
Help please... I've been trying this for 2 weeks now...

I am assuming there is no version differences between the Viart you've done the backup of the database from to the new provider you are moving the installation to?
 
Generally db errors that you are seeing are related to an incompatible version type - what I would suggest you try is, if you have access to your old viart directory, copy and download the entire installation directory to your new server.
 
Ensure you have created a db on your new server, copy the data from your back into it, amend the config file on your new server in viart to reflect the correct details of your db installation.

No, there are no version differences (I made sure I stuck to the same version).
 
I have also done what you suggest, which is copy and download the entire installation directory (mind you, there were some customizations done by the old web developer) into my new server. I came up with errors as well, and I've contacted the host & Viart support, which have helped me clear up all errors except for the major one: DB ERROR 1054.
 
The DB ERROR 1054 tells me that a specific column is missing on one of my tables - well, I've checked and re-checked (with both MyPHPAdmin windows open side by side - old host and new host) and the DB are exactly the same. So, whatever column it's missing I can't fix because it never existed in the first place...
 
I would gladly provide you with the FTP & Admin access, but should I publish the info here or privately? I ask this because I've never done it before and I don't know how to proceed.
