Hi everyone.

I have just completed a customisation reformatting product options and subcomponents. This customisation vastly improves the presentation of options/sub-components including presenting product images for options/sub-components, discount price and struck-out normal price.

It allows me to build substantial and complex product bundles designed to expose more product accessories to customers and encourage up-sell to more accessories when ordering a product. Customer feedback has been good for this customisation.

I am really happy with it and assume everyone will see it in an upcoming release of Viart.

However, there is one more element I want to add to this: New Price Override Method on Options/Subcomponents.

Our main store has many thousands of products, the vast majority being accessories for primary products. In presenting product bundles we want to offer small price discounts on options/sub-component. This is usually done by manually entering an override price in the option/sub-component. Unfortunately because we have a huge number of products in our database we are reluctant to set up many bundles, because when it comes time to amend product prices, we have to do it for each product, then go through each and every option/sub-component and adjust the override price (else the discount has unwittingly be increased for customer, and profitability decreased for us).

So the proposed solution is to increase the functionality of override prices for options and sub-component. The preferred method is to add a discount rate per option/sub-component and this is applied to the base price. It would look like this:

Product ID: 1054

Order: 1

Subcomponent Name: Cool option XYZ

Quantity: 1

Override Type:
( ) Don't Override
( ) Price Amount
(o) Percentage Discount

% Discount: 5%

Override Price: $95

Trade Price:

Real Price: $100

The functional difference to what we currently have in the system is the new field: Override Type; % Discount.

With this customisation admins can do heaps of option/sub-componenet incentive discounts and add no further price management overheads as a consequence.

This new option/sub-component price override method is incredibly useful and does not require the above mentioned bundle formatting customisation I have instigated. It is complementary but separate.

If anyone is interested in sharing this customisation, please contact me quickly, because I have run out of customisation funds and getting someone to share is the only was I ca really proceed with this. Current Viart estiamte is $300 and 4 weeks.
