Does ViArt support payments via HSBC?
 
Amongst the files for ViArt Shop v.3.5, there are four files whose names begin with the letters "hsbc":
 
1. hsbc_cpi.php
2. hsbc_cpi_check.php
3. hsbc_cpi_direct.php
4. hsbc_cpi_functions.php
 
Each of these files has a comment at the top, saying, "The Cardholder Payment Interface (CPI) within HSBC Secure ePayments (http://www.hsbc.com/) [...] transaction handler by www.viart.com".
 
However, I can find no reference to these files anywhere else in the ViArt system, and I can find no mention of HSBC on the ViArt website. In particular, HSBC is not mentioned in ViArt's list of "Supported payment systems" on the following page:

So can HSBC Secure ePayments be made through ViArt, and if so, how? How are the four PHP files that I listed above actually used?

Yes ViArt Shop supports HSBC payment system. The scripts you found in your shop are 100% usable. Some time ago we started to implement this system in ViArt but due to the closure of business of our client who paid for HSBC integration we didn't finish it completely and hence we didn't mention it on the site.
 
However the fact is you can use HSBC with ViArt as there is a ready script - all you need to do is add it to Payment Systems in admin panel, figure out the needed parameters and fill in the Payment URL as:
./payments/hsbc_cpi.php
