Right now, unless I'm mistaken, you can only run an out of stock report. There is nothing at present to let you know that a product is approaching out of stock status.

I would like to request a feature that would allow the admin to set a general low stock level or a by product low stock level, and the ability for the system to periodically check that level on all products, and send an email to notify the admin of which products are at the low level status.

Thanks for your consideration. If any users would also find this helpful, please respond to this thread so Viart will know.

I posted this over 2 weeks ago and am surprised no one else has any interest in seeing this feature on Viart. How do you handle monitoring inventory, without a low stock notification?

Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

At the moment there is a now the ability to add a supplier but the notication sent to the supplier works based on order/product status. So unless a particular status is applied to product no notification would be sent anyway which defeats the object of automated stock control.

It would be much better if this was triggered by a reorder level to ensure stocks are always maintained. I still think a manual check of stock before any auto emails are sent is better as per my brief above.

Dave, I checked over your request, which is more complex than my proposal. Nice system and well described, but more than we need at present.

One idea would be at least to have a field added to the Stock area for reorder quantity, so we could at least have a unique number for each product. Then I could write a script that could run nightly to check that number against stock on hand and send an email notification.

Of course the ideal would be to have that field, plus adding to the products report a "low stock level" report that would subtract reorder level from stock on hand and report any with a value less than 0. Add to that an automatic check when you sign in to the admin section, that does that check and notifies the user "You have X products with low stock levels".
