I had requested a price quote from Viart for implementing One-Page Checkout procedure to the cart.
Here is their responce:
====================================
Dear Ibn Saeed,
Thanks for contacting us with the request.
We are ready to implement OPC (One-Page Checkout) in ViArt Shop for the cost of $600.
Please, let us know if you have any questions.
With kind regards,
Anjula

=====================================
Alright, so we need to collect $600.00
Target = $600.00
To finish, we need: $600.00
OR 20 pledges from each of = $30.00
OR 10 pledges from each of = $60.00
OR 5 pledges from each of = $120.00
If 20 people join this funding, each would have to pay $30.00 and similarly, if 10 people join , each would have to pay $60.00 and so on..
Im the first one to join this funding.
Please, those who want to commit should leave a reply.

Ibn I suggest setting a clear target - if people are not sure how many will join and what the cost will be it will probably cause many to wait to see what happens.
I favour saying, for example, this feature is for the first TEN to pledge $60.
$60 really is a small amount for a feature that should improve conversions to sales. No question that it will soon pay for itself. And ten is not too many people - I can't see 20 joining.
Anyone interested need to commit NOW or probably miss out.
No-one will make a pledge of $60 if there is a possibility that the tail enders will only have to pay $30!
I certainly will not as I have been there before.
You could use your pledge system that you used before so that we have to commit our pledge there - and as soon as 10 have done so we go ahead - does that make sense?

Alright, $60 per person.
Chris, i had explained earlier that you and jayuk, paid without finalizing, as you seemed very eager. So please stop bringing that issue up again and again.
But I cannot use the pledge system i used earlier as they charge %7.
Viart should build their own pledge system.
in the meantime, those who want to commit, should do so within 15 Days.
Pledge Starts : 7th June 2008
Pledge Ends: 22nd June 2008
Subject : Partial Payment for One-Page Checkout Procedure.

I may be interested in this. But we arent paying for exclusive features here, as once complete it will be added to the viart in a next release. As with all of these we have been paying for recently.

viart.customer, I understand how you feel. The option is to ask for a price for exclusive coding which I expect will be considerably more than $600 .
I am prepared to contribute just to get the feature NOW - the alternative may be that we don't get it for a very long time, if ever.
This is my pledge for my $60
NINE more wanted . . .

Hi Chris,
I have no problem paying for non-exclusive features as I have already paid thousands in new features to viart and everyone has benefited. I just want everyone who contributes to know that its not exclusive. This is a great way to share the cost in new features.
I have found it works best to send viart an image of the new feature we want, so that they can deliver exactly what we expect.
When should we make payments for this, and to where?
Thanks
Ibn Saeed

The payments should be made when 10 people have pledged to pay $60.00 each in this thread.
When we reach the target, then we all pay the same day.

We seriously need a PM system integrated into Viart Forum. This way the regular contributors can keep in touch.

Dan,
A PM feature is one of the most basic features of any forum. For Viart to not have this feature shows me that the forum feature is nothing more than a tacky addon. If you choose to pay Viart to add it then (it is your parogative) Viart have really go tno shame.
I'll say this again coz noone seems to want to reply to me thread about the forum feature.
" They should remove the forum feature and turn it into a site feedback form" Viart should enable smooth integration with a REAL forum package like VBulliten.
After all, if you pay $80 to get a PM feature you could have bought a VBulliten license for 1 year which has a million more features than Viart forum.

on2dvd,
I'm not sure how you like to run your business, but as far as mine, I like integration. Complete Integration at that. I don't want users with passwords for vbulletin pages and passwords for other pages. I like it all within one package. ViArt does have a nice forum package. It is missing some core features that today we want, however I still think the forum is very nice. I use it in all of my 15 sites, and have hundreds of posts a day to them.

I go along with Dan; this forum sometimes sounds like it is for OS developer's - it is for Viart product and the object should, surely, be to get Viart's continued improvement? This has been very good in my experience.
Many of us are not developers, another reason for good integrated development. We can fiddle with adding other software but it never really fits and usually looks like a botch.
Can we keep focus on Viart?

Please, dont hijack this thread. This is for collecting funds for One Page Checkout.
Please open a different thread if you want to talk about forum features.
Thank you.

So far, pledges are as follows:
IbnSaeed = $60.00
Chris = $60.00
viart.customer = $60.00
$180.00 pledge so far, $420.00 more needed.
If anyone needs to pledge more than $60.00 is encouraged to do so.
I dont think we would be able to gather 10 people.
SajMalik
9 Jun 2008 10:56 AM
Well, the alternative is to double the price and try for 5 - but that assumes that we and two more will pay this.
I have to say that this is a feature that Viart should introduce as a standard feature — it is certainly worth paying $60 to get it earlier but $120 is a bit much
If we get more interest, are you going to set up https://www.fundable.com/ as before? This seemed to work well for you?
Ibn Saeed
9 Jun 2008 11:50 AM
As i said before, fundable charge 7% when the total pledge is over.
So if we want to cover the extra 7% cost, we would have to collect $642.00 instead of $600.
$42.00 will be fundable's fee.
I think it would be easier if Viart could setup a similar system. That way the funds will go directly to Viart without any deductions.
I really dont know why isnt Viart listening to this request. Its for their own good and for the good of the pacakage.
Ibn Saeed
9 Jun 2008 11:52 AM
Or, we can talk with Viart to get all the future feature requests to be Exclusive to those who pay. But it might increase the cost.
I think most of the people here are waiting to get features on others expense.
