Is the "feature requests" forum pointless?

I have three requests on this list page and no replies. All of them are important to me but if no-one else says so, I guess it wont get acknowleged.

Why doesn't Viart repy to these posts? I think because they probably prefer I pay custom work.

So again, what is the point of this forum? Has any request ever been acted upon?

I agree. I've had so many things that should be done, and only way I seem to get them done is by paying customization fees or doing it myself.

UGH

Don't get too downhearted the forum layout has changed Broad grin

BTW the attachments allowed (so far) are .gif, .jpg,. jpeg,. png - I'm touting for .txt

Lol, and the emoticons have changed. haha. The good news about the forum changing is that now we can exchange files while helping each other out.

They should allow .html and .php and .txt as well.

The reason for not allowing .php. .html etc., I presume, is to prevent scripts running on the Forum server.

As you know if you need to explain a point with examples of code its as easy to use .txt and for the user to copy and paste and to re-filetype locally.

True... or we could zip the files Yahoo!

After a "prod" PDF is now accepted - (I'm still asking for straightforward .txt).

This forum (feature requests) is still utterly pointless.

I think its important to presume that ViArt employees take a little more notice of support tickets than forum posts. This seems to be because support requests log in the helpdesk system and action needs to be taken to change the support request status otherwise the queries build up.

Forum Requests on the other hand don't seem to be so regularly scanned except , perhaps, posts to the Announcements section which may throw up bugs for issued upgrades.

I think the Features Request part of the forum is very useful as it tracks users collective thinking and also allows us to see that perhaps that elusive "feature" that we are looking for isn't actually thereBroad grin - and if it isnt then request it.
Some user FRs do grind their way back into releases but as "unsung heros" or as paid for modifications.

So my (rather cynical) advice is post here - and copy it to a support ticket with a "Features Request" subject. Oh and if you get a response please copy it here to share with everyone else.

Yes, and just because someone makes a request it does not mean that Viart implements it - it is not Features Instructions?

I always see Features Requests as a way to highlight requirements and if there is a lot of support, the level of demand for a feature.

It is then for Viart to use these to decide how to develop the program.

Do you never survey your customers about what they want - marketing research?

I think that many people just take this a little too seriously - i suggest we post requests and comment [like voting for them] - but don't do it in the belief that your are making a development instruction.

Let's just get realistic and then, perhaps, fewer people will be disappointed?

I am realistic Chris.

I have never seen a feature request actioned for free.
When these feature requests go to a support ticket, they are simply replied to with a suggestion to pay customization. This is how it works with Viart, I am under NO ILLUSIONS. Viart are not actively making this product better, they are waiting for us to finance it getting better.

Have you seen a feature request in this forum actioned? If so, I'll eat my words.

OK - I have asked for flexibility in the number of list page columns by category - that is being implemented. Would be interesting to see whether someone paid for this?
