Does anyone know if there is an advantage to using the Shared SSL certificate provided by hosting companies or is it better to have your own SSL certificate?

I am trying to test the Shared SSL certificate provided by my hosting company and in order to do that the url for the "http" site is different that the url for the "https" site. Under Global settings in admin, Viart gives an error when these two urls are different, so how do you get around that?

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

My opinion is get your own SSL certificate, it gives your site a feel of professionalism and authenticity.

Many users will click on that certificate to verify who the certificate is issued to, and if they see a name which refers to another site, they may flee.

Getting an SSL certificate is so cheap that you should get your own.

You can visit my site to get yours or at least get a price;
