Converge:

If this doesn't work for you, there's also Custom Fields on the order profile settings page, and you could add a REQUIRED field that asks 'Outside USA?' and could give the 'RegExp Error' expression if it's not selected as what you want?

The cart has so many options, it's just about using the one that best fits you.

Well i have the shipping rules in place, but it is very very messy, because all the "state" fields are mixed up when a customer checking out or signing in.

I have worked with many carts and I like Viart, but this is very frustrating that an oversight like this has not been corrected.

Looking at the forum here, it has received 3000+ views and 50+ responses from 2009 but yet it is still ignored.

#frustrated.

I started this thread years ago and long left Viart due to this and other issues never being resolved. It is odd that I am still recieving forums posts about this so many years later as a) it still hasn't been fixed??? &
b) there are no links to this forum on the email updates and no way to unsubscribe from this forum via the emails. Aren't you supposed to provide those by law so they are not considered spam??

There are some great ideas with Viart (but way too many issues for me), so good luck to you who are still using it!

Going off to find out how to unsubscribe........

[edit] no way to unsubscribe from this forum?? Looked in user home and couldn't find anything. That should be fixed. Off to delete user account...

Perhaps Viart does not understand how this should work. It seems simple:

1. A customer chooses a country from a list when registering, and this happens BEFORE other fields so that the code can run some javascript to show the proper following fields based on the country that was selected, for instance USA = list of states is shown, Australia = list of Provinces is shown, or if it's too much information to have all provinces in the world in a database, then let the customer type in their Province when the field is shown.

Showing both the State and Province field CONFUSES customers, perhaps yours are smarter than mine, but customers abandon carts routinely because they don't know what to put in which field. This is enough to drive me and them nuts over time.

If you show both, you can't make either or both of them mandatory, so you get lots of orders with neither in them, and then we have to call customers to find out where they actually live.

So, VIART: Two choices:

1. I will code the PHP to give you the logic if necessary, so that you can determine which field to show based on the country, and that field needs to be mandatory so customers don't ignore it. I get lots of orders without a state or Province because of this less-than-perfect scheme I've been forced to use.

2. I'll pay you to code it. It will be less expensive than spending hours a week on the phone explaining the cart logic to my customers.

PLEASE PICK ONE and get this done, Viart. There's NO excuse for the best cart to be hung up on such a common and easily fixed issue.

How much money do you want, or what do we all have to do to convince you this is something that's not going to die till you fix it? And SOON would be my only acceptable answer. if you still don't think this is important, then you simply don't care.
