Hi,

I have added 6 custom fields to user profile settings.

These to capture data in regard of the chosen delivery address

e.g directions to the address, special instruction for driver , Ok to leave with neighbour etc

However I now find out that these fields are not available for use in the checkout.

I realise custom fields can be added to the checkout also but I really want this info stored with the user account and used at the checkout so that my clients do not have to enter this information each they order.

Is this possible in the current set up.

Any ideas would be welcome !

Yes - if you add the fields in the order profile page
Administration > Order Profile Page Settings
- you can specify to show in check out.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your reply.

I was aware that custom fields can be added via Administration > Order Profile Page Settings

It was more the link between user details fields being carried through to the checkout in either current or better still new sections.

e.g the ability to show user profile custom fields on the checkout page + in addition the ability to decide which fields show e.g selected fields not all of them.

As per your other post some fields are best left only in the user profile area and others could be carried through to the checkout depending on the necessity to do so.

Cheers

Dave

In addition to having a custom order-specific field, I also want it to show on my packing slips. For instance, a customer orders a product, and wants to say 'Can you ship this with paper packing rather than peanuts' and other t hings like 'Please include the widget we discussed on the phone, thank you.'. Those things need to be on the packing slip so that the person filling the order does not have to get it from the invoice.

Seems odd that my custom Order Profile Page field prints on the invoice but not on the packing slip. What the heck?

As an evaluator of this cart software for only 1 day now, I am quickly learning that it has some fundamental flaws. It is concerning that the Viart Team do not monitor this forum and do not offer any fixes here. This puts me off buying the supported versions. I will look harder at what support is offered for my money. Having said that, in theory, It looks very easy to customize, hmmm

VIART does watch the forum but it is intended, it seems, just for user exchange.

I have had a mass of personal help and advice from support tickets to the Viart team.

I know that it sounds a little unconventional these days, and I would like to see more Viart involvement here, but the quality of the help I have had - and not always had to pay extra for - has been excellent.
