When I read the manual & install to Linux instructions they seem to say that I MUST install the viart-shop files to the ROOT folder of my web space.
 
I would prefer to install the shop to a sub-folder so that my root space is not cluttered with the many files which are in viart-shop's root folder.
 
eg: I would like to install to public_html/viart/
 
 
But If I do this will the shopping cart work properly?

The reason they say that is so when a user goes to your webspace the server automatically gives them "index.php" and the shop is visible.
 
If you want to put it elsewhere then install a link from one of your front pages to public_html/viart/index.php or create an index.html page in the root of your site with a meta refresh to take the browser to the new location. Don't forget to adjust the Administration settings accordingly.

I was concerned that configuration or settings would get confused if I didn't follow the instructions exactly, but I have now put the files in a /viart/ sub-folder and everything appears to be working ok.

When you say 'don't forget to adjust Admin.settings' which files need to be adjusted for the install etc. please.
