8. Managing customer accounts |
|
 |
|
Even though you run an online store and deal mainly with orders, it would not be out of place to know who your customers are.
The overall management of customer accounts is performed through the 'Site Users' section. Please go to Administration > Site Users > Accounts. By default, there is a customer already added into the system. However, you can add a new one if needed.
The section you are in at the moment allows general customer account management: You can:
- look through the list of customers registered in your online store as well as proceed to customer detail pages (see section 8.1.1);
Note: In case registration before purchasing is not obligatory, not all customers that have placed orders on your site will be displayed. You can set this up in the 'System Settings' section (see section 3.1).
- search customer accounts (for more information see section 8.4);
- export/import customer accounts (for more information see section 8.5).
In order to perform the actions indicated above you have to proceed to the corresponding sections. However, here are a few more instructions:
- You can sort accounts by their ID, User Login, E-mail, Type, and status. Click the name of the column you want to sort accounts by and notice the up or down arrow next to the column name.
- Should you need to register a new customer via the administration panel, you can do this by clicking the 'Add New customer' link. In case there are a few customer types, you will have to choose the corresponding link (for more information about customer types see section 8.2).
- You can approve/disapprove several customer accounts at a time: tick off the corresponding check boxes, select a status in the list box below and click the 'Update Status' button.
Note: There is an ability to set up automatic approval for all customers or for specific customer types. For more information see section 8.2).
- You can delete several customer accounts at a time: tick off the corresponding check boxes click the 'Remove Selected' button.
- There is a registration statistics block in the upper left part of the page. You can review it by the default timescale (today, yesterday, last 7 days or this month) or by customer types (for more information about customer types see section 8.2). Keep in mind that you can apply both horizontal and vertical sorting at a time.
