The navigation panel is displayed on all pages of your online store, with ViArt Shop you can change the way it is displayed for each layout. It is also possible to distinguish which navigation options are shown to all your visitors and/or only to those who logged in.

Please go to Administration > Layouts > (the layout you are editing) > Site Navigation

The Site Navigation consists of a series of links to different parts of your store, for your convenience there are two ways of presenting it through the administration section: Datasheet view and Tree view.

Datasheet view

This view allows you to edit all menu items within one window.

In this view you need to fill out the following columns:

  • Menu Title describes how the menu item will be named, and what title will be shown in menu.
  • Menu URL specifies the URL (from the root directory) to the page the menu item points to.
  • Menu Image provides the URL to the image shown as menu item. You can specify images for inactive (when a customer is in another section) and active items (when a customer is within the section of your store). If left blank, the 'Image Title' value will be used.
  • Note: You can change the navigation images depending on the language used, i.e. the system will show different images for different languages. In order to do this you need to create a separate folder for each language and put it into the folder where basic images are stored. For example, if your basic images are stored at images/default/menu/, then you have to create a folder and name it like images/default/menu/en/ for English, images/default/menu/de/ for German and so on. You can take the language codes from the ‘Static tables’ section see section 12.3). Note that if there are no images for a specific language, the system will take the corresponding ones from the parent folder.

  • Show for non-logged users. If ticked the item will be shown to all site visitors.
  • Show for logged users. You can clear the check box and the system will hide this page from non-logged visitors. Primarily this is used for customer's home page. Delete will delete the item from the navigation.
If you want to add more menu items click the 'Add' button.
In order to save the changes you made click the 'Update' button.
In order to delete all items click the 'Delete all' button.
If you want to leave without saving click 'Cancel'.

Tree view

Unlike the datasheet view, you are required to edit each menu item in a separate window. Please choose the item you need to edit and select the corresponding ‘Edit Item’ link.

Alot of the fields are the same as in the datasheet view explained above, with the exeption of:
  • Parent item specifies the parent directory where the item will be placed (in the event you require a multi-level menu).
  • Order defines the item's position in the navigation menu. Note that entering an order number of an existing item will interchange the order of the items.
In order to save the changes you made click the 'Update' button.
In order to delete the item click the 'Delete' button.
If you want to leave without saving click 'Cancel'.
