Sometimes, you may need to create multiple forums for different areas of discussions. These can be Discussion Forum, Public Forum, Private Forum, Document Shared Forum, etc. ViArt HelpDesk provides you with a possibility to add any number of forum modules according to specific needs of your business.
To add a new forum, go to Administration > Forum and click the New Forum link on the left column. The following fields are to be filled:
Forum Name requires the name you want to assign to a new forum.
Friendly URL field allows you to specify search engine friendly URL for your forum.
Using Forum Order you can set the rate for your forum.
Category field gives you the possibility to choose from the list of available categories. Please note that you should firstly create at least one category to be able to assign this forum to this particular category. For more information about creating a category, please refer to the following section see section 6.1.3.
In the Short Description field you may enter a short description of a forum.
Full Description allows to describe the aim of your forum in full.
With Forum Settings you have an option to select whether to allow to take part in forum discussions for all users, only to registered users, etc.
Sometimes, you may need to show some image(s) to your users. ViArt HelpDesk provides you with a possibility to upload two kinds of images: small images (that can be shown in forums list) and large images that will be shown in the forum topics list). There are three possible ways to upload your images. Firstly, you may specify the path to the image in the appropriate field. If you want to upload a new image, click the Upload New Image link and attach an image. You may also select an image from a list of already uploaded images by clicking the Select Image link.
With Forum Statistics you can view the number of threads and messages this forum has as well as the date of the last post added.
When filling all the fields, click the Add New button and your forum will be added.
If you want to edit an existing forum, choose the one you need to change and click the Edit link. Make necessary changes and click the Update button to save your amendments.
